Author Message tncaveman Member Username: tncaveman Post Number: 86 Registered: 2-2011 Posted on Saturday, June 02, 2012 - 1:09 pm:    My new girlfriend arrived on Thursday and she's a beaut! 1989 Elan 4 Fretless 89H5622 The body and neck are maple with a really cool red-wine stain w/ glossy finish. The color actually changes with the amount of light available. I got some good shots in the sun today. The Elan has J-style pickups and LED's at the 12 position. The hardware is chrome plated brass. She was adopted from Grovelines - Michael. I believe ElwoodBlue once "dated her". It's a little dark, but this shows how the color changes. I can't believe how many different tones / sounds this bass can make. My fretless Jazz sounds good, but the variety of sounds is limited. The fade, filter and Q-switch have so many variations. And, my GK Microbass MB150 has so many more options. It's amazing how a little adjustment can affect the sound as much as it does. Now the hard part, what sound/settings do I use? Lately, she's the bass I grab for playing at church or around the house. It's great for the trio work we are now doing, which is keys, guitar and bass. Mellow songs sound great w/ fretless. And the color is probably a little more toward the purple side than what's shown in the pics. Definitely one of the prettiest finishes that I have ever seen on a bass or guitar. Stephen
