On Grover Washington Jr's CD Grover Live, there is a picture of Grover & his band from 1979. The bassist is holding a Series Bass.
On the documentary Jazz Giants of the 20th Century shown on the Aspire netork, Grover performs 'A Secret Place' with said bassist on said Series bass in 1979.
Might be a major musician since Grover hired cats such a Will Lee, Tyrone Brown, Marcus Miller, Anthony Jackson, etc ...
Any club members have any idea?

Sorry for the confusion. The Grover Live CD is from the late 1990's and features Gerald Veasley playing his signature Ibanez 6 string bass. The booklet included with the DC has older pictures including the one I mentioned above.
Coincidentally, the Jazz Giants documentary shows the same bassist that is shown in the 1979 picture. He is playing an Alembic Series bass on 'A Secret Place'.
I am trying (in a futile search) to ID that 1979 bassist.

My guess would be that Washington's live band in 1979 would have had Tyrone Brown on bass. However I haven't been able to find any pictures from that period. Another possibility might be Cedric Napoleon who played regularly with Washington in the 80's.
