camphor

camphor detail

This wood smells like, well, camphor! Probably because that's what it is. I've only got the one piece, but more is readily available.

This is wide enough for a bookmatch to center Small Standard body - but not long enough for an Essence or other shape with an extended upper horn.

Truely unique! This looks like it has little blood vessels under the surface. ("Yes, music is my lifes blood and fine wood is close to my heart.")

P.S. - Camphor is a medicinal smell, yes?

It looks like raindrops falling in a wooden pond!

The pattern reminds me of a turtle shell, and the color is sort of like a grapefruit. I'm not really digging it, but maybe someone else would.

I just got a non Alembic made out of camphor. I posted it in the Miscellaneous Section: None Alembic Family Member.
I would love to get a MK5 in this burl one day. It is awesome.
