I don't know nothing about woods so I'm looking for a little insight. I like the wood sheet 661 above but I would like know what color will it's change to? Will it stay that color? Is it possible to have that wavy wood but in a blue color? How much would it cost for a top and back if it's cocobolo? Is it possible to tint it? Thanks for anyhelp provided. BassAddict P.S. The picture is the kind of look i'm looking for if the wood becomes this red....basically I like everything from this top, color ring shape blackish veins.

I'm not aware of anyway to get Coco Bolo figuring with a blue color. Certainly stains or paint won't be effective in overcoming the red-orange color of this wood. You might find a piece of Spalted Maple or Beech that has the figuring characteristics you like and then have it painted with a tranparent blue. The picture you provided is overexposed and in my experience of photographing Coco Bolo instruments, the bass isn't quite that vibrant in real life. Most Coco Bolo we use is a nice red-orange color with dark grain lines. It all gets darker over time. When you first cut this wood, it's almost yellow it's so light. Over about a week it gets to the shade pictured above. Once the bass is made and painted, it will look darker and redder. Then over the years, it will darken, but will continue to have the nice red color. By the way, the Coco Bolo in the Tribute section is twice as thick as our standard tops, and is therefore twice the normal rate for the upgrade. |

Thanks for the quick answer, I'm looking for a really colorfull wood I don't really mind the color but I want it to be excentric, flashy and screaming, like a bright red or even orange, blue or purple I don't know if it's possible but the closest I've come with what I'm looking for so far is below it's Amboyna Burl, Red Morell, Lilac Mountain Burl, Jarrah Burl and Salmon Gum Burl Autralian Eucalyptus Burl(3). You see I'm looking for something that screams a nice, original, unique wood design and color. I know it's hard to answer to that so anything said will be appreciated. Thanks BassAddict
