This is one of the basses currently on eBay. I am interested in the scale length and the top wood, which I would guess to be flamed koa from the photo. Thanks! |

Looks like a standard issue Spoiler for the time: Top: Koa Body: Mahogany Neck: 3-piece Maple Fingerboard: Ebony Inlays: Pearloid Scale: 32" medium Birthday: January 27, 1984 Originally sold to: Medley Music Haven't heard from this bass since it was made. If it's this bass it sure looks like a steal so far. |

That's the one, thanks. I thought it looked like a 32, but the seller said 34. I suppose non-experts probably measure to the tailpiece. Since they called it flamed mahogany, I think I can safely say they aren't experts. I do expect the price to go up over $1K in spite of the lack of a hard case, there's plenty of time left. |

The best way I've found to get an accurate report of the scale length is to ask the seller to measure from the nut to the 12th fret. Double that and you've got the scale length. Yeah, it probably will go over 1K, because the top is so nice and it generally looks to be in decent shape, and you're right, there is time. Searching completed items, this was listed recently, but didn't meet the reserve. |
