I've been putting off dealing with this, but it finally came up. I have a gig in Vermont at the beginning of August and I'm trying to figure out the best way to get my bass there with me. I've been trying to get in touch with Calton to see if they can make me a case by then, but I've had no response. Has anyone flown with the standard G&G case? I've certainly flown with other basses (that could be considered way less durable) with this style of case with no problems, but you know...

Any ideas would be welcome, or if someone has a flight case I could borrow that would fit a short scale SI (ie. Stanley style bass), that would be great!

TIA
Edwin

If we get it ordered pretty soon, Jan-Al can get a nice flight case made in time.

If you need to borrow the case for 1180, let me know brother.

Oh I should add that I don't think it's a good idea to fly with the regular hardshell case. If you had to fly with what you have, it would be better to box it all up like you were shipping it, and do make sure you have separate insurance for the bass when flying of course.

If it comes down to it, I could fly with my Starfire Calton. It does fit, with some extra room down by the bridge, it's just bulky. The good thing is that it comes in under weight, so I don't have to pay for oversize or overweight.

Mica, if you could send me info on price and weight for the Jan-Al case, that would be great!

Nick, thanks for the offer, but the 1180 case is similar to what my shorty already has.

OK, off to my gig! Have a great weekend, all!

Edwin, The best of luck with your case fitting and the gig. I might be interested in the pricing of those Jan-Al cases to fit a Standard Point long scale as well.
