Hey All,
I am selling my late husbands 1976 series 1. I have it listed on the Alembic club and ebay. Any other suggestion son where I could list it to find a serious buyer?

Condolences on your loss.

I think listing the bass here and eBay are good ideas to get a quick sale. If you find a forum regular here who is interested, you can feel confident that you have a legit buyer who isn't looking to scam you- this is a small forum of regular users who look after things well. :-)

The series basses can be run on batteries, but most prefer to run them off of the power supplies Alembic makes. Your husbands bass probably came with a small blue box that serves as the power supply for the bass- do you have that box and the 5pin cable that goes from the bass to the power supply?

I think your asking price is a fair starting point. Series basses range in sales price, so I think you're fine where you sit. Don't be surprised if you get offers slightly below what you're asking though, as used series basses often sell in the $3500-$4000 range.

Allow me to second everything Toby said, especially the condolances; I would add that more pictures (from various angles/distances)would probably help, as would knowing the scale length (forgive if I assume wrong here, but you don't say that you yourself are a player, and I know my wife would reply to the last with "What?!?!", so - measure from the nut - the brass peice near the headstock - to the 12th fret, & double it - that's the scale). Good luck with your sale; the body shot looks lovely, and if I had funds we'd be talking.
