Mica or Valentino,
Could you give me the lowdown on 86P9323 when you get a chance?

Hollis,

The last part of your number doesn't look correct: each Alembic has a unique number AFTER the year and the model indicator. I have an 88 Spoiler that has 4828 and a 94 Epic that has 8256. An 86 Persuader would have a lower number than 4828, but could this be a 96 Persuader? Such a beast would have a higher number than 8256.

Hollis,

Say it isn't so, my six string brother! Are you really going to leave me here all by myself? Don't go to the darkside!!! LOL.

Jonathan:

Not to worry, the evil Cap'n Kirk can coexist at the same time in the same universe as the benevolent Cap'n Kirk without the parallel universe paradigm effect resulting in certain anihilation of all matter as we know it (huh?), LOL!

Alright Hollis! Better late than never Brother. Guitars are really six string piccolo basses anyway. :-)

Fear not Jonathan, I am now and will remain a guitarist first and foremost.

Nothing noble about it, I just suck at the bass. LOL!

I've "played at" the bass since I was twenty.... I have a Guild bass that has nice action and sounds Okay. However, now that I'm recording with my Skylark, the Guild's sound just ain't cuttin' it. Alas and alac (read YIPPEE and OH BOY OH BOY), I looks like I'm not going to be satisfied with any low end but Alembics....

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Thanks for all the encouragement.

It looks like senior management is in agreement. Ah, the limitless giving nature of my wife.....

I'll let everyone know how it all turns out.

Okay, here's an update. I put a down payment on the '86 quilted maple Persuader @ Bass Northwest.
I'm going on vacation this month, so I'm laying it away and will pick it up on Sept 3rd or 4th.

I'm jazzed. OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY!

....To be continued.....

Congratulations with your almost-there first Alembic bass. BTW your wife is cool too! Just checked the Bass Northwest website, nice quilt on that baby and a great case as part of the package. One warning though, an Alembic bass (1999 N.O.S. Orion 4) has been the one and only reason I totally stopped playing the guitar!

Wilfred,

That's why I bought an Alembic guitar before purchasing an Alembic bass....

This is very cool, I'll be able to really suck at the bass with really great tone! LOL!

Enjoy
