I received information that Stanley Clarke had a new bass built by Alembic, that he's going to be using during next year's live shows.

Val or Mica, can you give us some information on this? Is it another small scale Series One, or maybe something completely different?

I saw it in April when I visited Alembic. I believe it was an S2 in coco bolo. It had a small standard body and the fretboard was fully inlaid (I can't recall the design, but one of the dragons comes to mind).

We saw it when we were out there a couple weeks ago. It's a beauty, but we were asked not to show pictures or provide details. They don't exactly have it hidden away in a closet, but they want it to remain unpublished until Stanley can get his eyes/hands on it personally. I suspect that there will be a thorough photo shoot and that it will be custom of the month as soon as Stanley comes to town.

I can say that I would never buy another bass if I owned that one, though. Probably never even look at another.
