Post in News and Announcements says there is a price increase as of December 1st, 2011. December is almost over. The Quote Generator does not reflect a price increase for any of the models I checked out. Was the increase put off till a future date, or does the generator need updating? | ||

Sigh, :-( my dream of commissioning a custom series bass is moving further and further away with each price increase. I suppose in time I will just have to find a used custom that is closest to my specification for a custom bass. Jazzyvee | ||

Well, now would be a very good time to check with Beaver at Bass Central and see just what kind of discount you can get from him at Bass Central. Might be more significant than you think. Get yer features down pat you must have, and work out which monthly special with the folks at Alembic would provide the best further discount, and finance it before the prices jump another 10% or so by the 3rd of January (Being such an old, faithful member here, they may cut you a week or so extra time on getting it all together). To get exactly want you want, made exclusively for you has always come with a premium price, but right now is the best time to begin the journey, if the jouney is to be started within a year or two. Otherwise, you may have to settle for some old run-of-the-mill, ebonied-neck Europa floating around I hear you have firsties on for less than a third what 'exclusively made for you' would run ya. Door number one is a door to be entered by the confident and adventurous player, secure in knowing they will keep the finished prize in a very long-term situation. While door number two ain't so bad, and can provide 90% of the buzz of door one at a fraction of the price, and no where near the loss if it just does not work out for you later. No one said life is easy or fair, it ain't. Think hard, anti up, and deal with the cards that show up in your hand. May not be easy or fair, but life's adventures sure are addictive, and the rewards for bravery can be unlimited. Thirty-one years ago I antied up, lost the round, only to pick the game back up on eBay earlier this year. Bad times came back then, but I am surely glad I played the hand I did. I once again have something made exclusively for me, and that is close to priceless to me. If I were a younger man, I know I would do it again, unless door number two had something very, very close to just what I wanted. Hey, who is rambling on drugs here??? I'll shut up now. | ||

BTW - Historically, when the prices for new Alembics jump up, so do the prices for used ones. Right after the last two jumps, prices on eBay saw some impressive spikes that took quite a while to settle back down to what would be 'normal increases' one would expect for used Alembic models. So a few of those basses that have been hanging round there for what seems forever, may actually find buyers in a month or two. Glad I am not currently in the market. I was thinking of this very "old run-of-the-mill, ebonied-neck Europa" just this week and had another look at it in the custom archive. I have a plans being drawn up to do some remodelling of my home this year so funds for brand new custom bass purchases are really out of the picture for the foreseeable future. The other thing is that buying a new custom from the USA would incur heavier import taxes than a used instrument due to the valuation. So that means I would be restricted to a buy one and sell one scenario unless I start getting more gigs. One of the members here has firsties on my Black Elan so if you decide to part with it and we get a deal sorted out sometime, that Elan will more than likely have to go. :-( What a thought to start the new year with.... a new Alembic :-) jazzyvee | ||

Well, I didn't get the prices revised yet, so there is another reprieve while I get my act together here. This is one time that I'm sure nobody is upset that I'm late on a project  but once the new prices are posted, they will be in effect. | ||

LOL ___ all is relative to the perspective of the perceiver. The English language after all is the Mother Language or Root Language of our American Dialect . There was no American language other then Native North American languages in North America in the Medieval Age however there sure enough was English in England . Therefore perhaps American English could be perceived to be a dialect or accent of the British English that existed in England long before American English slowly developed. Therefore perhaps I can surmise that all us Americans over here on this side of the pond have accents , me included, since I mostly lost my German accent long ago but still "trip and fall" over my own words with my strange sentence structure in English ( German was my first language) _______ ! LOL AGAIN !!!!!!!!!!!!! A porter in a British hotel comes upon an American tourist impatiently jabbing at the button for the lift. "Sir, the lift will be here in a moment." "Lift? Ain't nobody in California gots a accent, cept for those Bakersfield boyz and strange little girls from the valley. Either of those groups will talk circles around ya, yap, yap, yap. I assume Jazzyvee was keeping Mica busy on the phone discussing that "old run-of-the-mill, ebonied-neck Europa." Far as I am concerned done deal has been called on this bass and it will shortly be in the custodianship of Mr. Vee. No one has admired this bass more than I have, except Jazzyvee (Maybe Steve Wood, but he has basses that make me drool!), so Jazzyvee deserves to become its caretaker as soon as he shows up to collect it. I am very 'jazzed' it is going to such an appreciative owner. May you two provide decades of visual and aural pleasure to those around you. And I trust no one more on this planet with any kind of trust issues more than Mica, so I am a happy camper here. I will probably cry when I drop the package of extra thick ebony neck lams off at the UPS in Paradise. I know I will never see another set of those or have the deep thrill of playing such a neck again. | ||
