Not sure how many of you are familiar with Phil X. Quite the character. Does a lot of guitar demos for Fretted Americana. Actually very talented, though this clip doesn't really reflect that. Here he is playing a Tribute with, admittedly, no clue what the electronics do.

i seem to remember there being a pretty heated thread about this video (more about phil) popping up a few months back.
didn't seem to be well appreciated by the club. i'd be lying if i said i fully understood all the electronics on my alembics. just sayin'.

I remember the previous thread. I actually like this guy, but would never let him play any of my instruments - That belt buckle is CRIMINAL! I also think he is pretty good and funny most of the time. I would not mind being in a busy bar\club band with the guy, though I would always bring a Steinberger just in case I had to take him out quick . . . Plus, I'd even let him play that one.

Notice how on the Tribute vid he has the buckle fully exposed, but on a 58 Gibson black beauty vid (Whose back would not show another scar very much), he keeps it covered - So he obviously has great respect for the 58, and is clear and upfront that he just ain't a Tribute kind of guy. Plus - Hey, 58's are hard to come by! I still like the guy anyway, and he seemed to know more about the Tribute than I would know about something I had no interest in. I think they chose well in a playing rep to advertise their used stock. Obviously, just my opinion. I know he grates on some people, but don't we all?

The response from Bill (Lbpesq) in the original post is hilarious

"Here we have a cool looking car. They call it a 'Porsche Carrera 911'. Must be a police car! Calling 9-1-1 dude! Now let's see the engine in this baby. First let's lift the hood - WHOA DUDE, someone stole the engine right outta here!"

Yes, Bill, a good one indeed.

I like Phil X's remarks about split single coils, and a kill switch.
