For those that dug Roger's Custom Alembic take on JAE's Buzzard Bass, i.e., the Dragon Wing, ck out Superbass.com. Steve Frank had another one comissioned at around the same time as Roger's. Sweet!

Spyder Ollie: This one has your name all over it!

Nah, what Ollie *** really *** wants is a Dragon's Wing complete with the Chinese Dragon inlaid fretboard - one has to continue the theme, you know! ;-)

Rog: Of course it's not as nice as yours. I know you have Susan's masterpiece $5kUSD (non-discountable) dragon fingerboard inlay, as well as custom THG knobs, that Superbass Steve's does not. That's precisely why yours was the Custom O' Month and Steve's was not. He did a good job keeping that one a secret. It's still very nice although a bit rich for my blood. I can just imagine the total cost if it was a Series II AND had the dragon!!!! LOL!

Unfortunately, us Yanks don't have the Pound-vs-$USD advantage that you Brits have.

You never know, Ollie may snap that one up anyway after playing yours, receiving a nice court settlement, and getting a new job, LOL! The Euro is still strong against the dollar, which doesn't hurt.

Cheers,

Kevin

Kevin,Rog,guys,
Kevin, I think you missed something.
I won the judicial process, will get a nice settlement and already have a new job. Today was my second day with the new job!
And guys, I think you got me again.
Just to clear things: to me Rogīs DW is the one and only piece of art. Additional to Rogīs there are three others buildt or in the make:
one for Superbass, one for Basscentral and one for Bassworld UK I think.
The one that Beaver of Basscentral has in stock is absolutely enough for me after two Spyders (the Spyder 8 will arrive here next month). And my ever lasting dream is still an exact replica of one of Johns Spyder basses including the exact fingerboard inlays (expensive, expensive).
So I decided that the DW at BassCentral would fit ideally to my two Spyders and then I need not to carry the big Spyder cases.
So shortly spoken, the DW at BassCentral is reserved to my name!

Ollie,

Talk about the best of both worlds!! Getting yet another Alembic having that Buzzardish look - plus your Spyders - Hopefully this will make up for not having a Spyder with those very very expensive JE fingerboard inlays! Something tells me you know where all the notes are without having that little "roadmap" anyway!

Have fun! Mike

Mike,
yeah, of course. But you know if it should be as close it must have the original inlays. But they are reaaaalllllllyyyyyy expensive.
Who (!) knows....... :-)

I knew Oliver would go for a DW. I just knew it! I would have gone for a Spyder after I played Oliver's in March but the problem is the weight of the Spyder and the state of my lower back after a car accident 11 years ago - the Spyder was just TOO much!

Congratulations Oliver, welcome to what it seems is a very exclusive club! Do you want the details of the THG Knobs or are you happy with the ones it already has?

Cheers!

Ha!

It's Deja Vu all over again (to use a famous Yogi-ism), LOL! I just new Ollie would bite, I just didn't know he had done so already! I just knew that after you guys swapped instruments, that somebody would buy one of the other's basses, LOL!

I had no idea Mica made that many. I should have surmised that it was inevitable considering that Buzzards do sell, and the Spyders are pretty much sold-out.

Ox nostalgia lives!

Oliver: Are you trying to give Rami a run for his money? LOL!

It seems I have to look into if there is a Port Authority of Deutschland or the UK so I can transfer to Europe...obviously they pay you guys WAY too much money over there! LOL! And I thought I was hot s**t running around OZ for two months last year with a pocketful of $USD taking advantage of the (relatively) weak $AUD, LOL!

Seriously, good luck Ollie. I would kill to own the basses that you have (will have). We won't even talk about Roger's masterpiece, LOL!

Oliver,

Many congratulations on the new acquisition. That's a beauty....you've got quite a collection going there. Should I find myself wandering about Germany, with a Belgian stamp in my passport, beware the man with the nylons!!!!

He-ho-he-ho ...

who is interupting my slobbering??
Slobbering with a nylon on my head is extremely difficult you have to know!!!
HAAAAAAAAAAHA!

Ollie ...now NEXT time you come over to my place (I hope in your new job you have a real huge VAN included so DUMP the Mercedes) WITH your Alembic collection!
You will see that Bonnie is IMHO heavier than the Spyder. I'll ask Brother Jan the river one to come too with Marylin ...now THAT's a weight.
But (good'ol but) neither for Jan neither for me the weight is a problem. If you look at the pictures of Jan playing at the "weekly gig" department you'll see he plays with a very STRAIGHTENED back (as I do) and believe me (IFF you have a healthy back) it is the way to play and KEEP your back healthy.

OK ...I am not into buying Alembics anymore but jeeeeeeeeee-eez those Dragonwings DO have that "something".

Paul the bad one

Spider Ollie: did you join a band yet???? You should!!!! And Rog too!!!! Those basses belong on stages, ask BRother Mike.!!!! You can get extremely beautiful women around you admiring you ...really ...ask Mike (well ...there IS that chance that the head of your bass is whacked off ...nut ...well ...that is a minor inconvenience -hehehehehehehehehe)

JP, obviously you haven't been to Europe in recent times. We no longer have border checks between countries that have signed the Schengen Treaty, like Belgium and Germany. Sorry, once you've arrived in a Schengen country you'll need to go to say Norway to get another stamp in your passport. But if you apply the stocking before approaching the Belgo-German border, then they might be tempted to service you.

Ollie, that collection of yours is getting out of hand. Totally over the top. Ridiculous. Hope you have fun anyway.

They even have a special EU line at customs. My last trip I landed in London and got stamped. Transferring to Dublin all I did was get off the plane, give the rep there my hotel info for the lost luggage and go on my way. Nice.

Oliver, congratulations, wow two spyders and a buzzard. You must be Beaver's new best friend. I hope you get Christmas cards from him.

BTW let's send some of our collective good vibes Bass Central's way. They're about to be wacked by a second hurricane in about two weeks time. Not good.

Guys,
many many thanks for your kind words.

Rog, donīt know yet and maybe I am the only one here, but honestly said, I like the black classic
plastic knobs.

Paul TBO, with my new job I got a Ford Galaxy Van as a company car which is very huuuuggggeeee!! :-)
I am still looking for some good people as I really would like to do a Who tribute band.
I just got a new and huge rehearsal room, so everything is there....

Sam, Beaver is really a great and very customer-friendly guy. I really have to thank him for all.
And yes, I hope that that they are secure over there. Of course also as two of my basses are still there.... :-)
