Hi nice people, i just picked a second hand Alembic 89H 5320 Elan for a reasonable price, i love to see the veins of the wood, but i would like to know a bit more. Thanks for the good work (and your answer). Sorry for the zero missing in the title.
Mathias

Hello Mathias & welcome to the club.

The serial number you posted is incomplete; there should be 4 numbers after the letter H.
Let me have the complete number & I'll be happy to look it up for you. We are closed Monday for Labor day & I won't be here Tuesday, so I won't be able to check on it until Wednesday unless you happen to post the number this afternoon.

Hello again Mathias,

you can't edit the title of the thread, but don't worry about it.

Here's what we have on file:
1989 long scale 4 string Elan bass
Rosewood top
maple body
maple neck
ebony fretboard
Elan electronics (1 volume, 1 tone filter, 1 pan 1 Q switch)
Plastic oval inlays
Schaller tuners
Completed March 23 1989
Sold through Kenman.

That's it.

Rosewood top on a Maple body sounds nice!

I don't know, i receive it today and i need to change the strings :-)
More seriously, i didn't really choose it, but it's not bad, the only thing i regret is the neck three pieces of (lovely) maple are not the most interesting colorwise. But the rosewood (head an top) is complicated enough and near mint, the back not really.
