I've always wanted to own a series 1 or 2 70's Alembic six-string guitar. I've had some close calls over the last couple years but have always missed the buy, or else there was something "fishy" about the instrument, seller, or both. WHat is the ballpark range, if there is one, for Alembic six string guitars from this period.

I keep an eye on auctions for Alembics a lot. You really wont find one for sale from a dealer thats used except for a few rarities from time to time. I see a 70s Alembic on ebay a few times a year probably, maybe a little less and they tend to go for 2000ish to the high 3000s. Most of the real prime ones in mint condition have homes so the ones you tend to see on ebay are Series I's that have seen some serious use, but you can get what I think is a pretty solid deal if you have a lot of patience.

Most of the used Alembic guitars I see are Electrums and they can usually be bought in the 1500-2000 range or even a bit less for some of the well used ones. Finding a used Alembic guitar is pretty tough. Theres a used Skylark on ebay right now, but that doesnt sound like what you are looking for.
