The Featured Custom for April is up, and congrats to Pierre-Yves! Very much a one-of-a-kind instrument. And Mica, I love the background story on the construction and theory behind the design. Another exceptional example of Alembic artistry!

For what this must cost, I'd expect to have "Alembic" stamped on both sides of the pick-ups!

Please do not become alarmed in periodic holds in sound; these "sound holds " become apparent when the external stimuli are in one phase and wave shape to the binary encoding system of the human brain. Contrary to popular belief ,when engaged in "uni-E" tuning the hearer of the " sound holds" may encounter multispectral crescendo diminuendos resulting in an epiphany completely unprecedented yet experienced within inter-dimensional illusion.

My sincere congratulations to all those who have created this marvel of exemplary craftsmanship and to the Gentleman who has funded it and is the current owner of this timeless work of Art.

Wait a minute - the writing describing the bass isn't symmetrical. I demand a rewrite! ;-)

LOL excellent !!!
since Mica sent me the text and the idea took shape, I've never laughed as much on the forum!
One of the best (unfortunately I did not understand all the subtleties) was that: text by Mica Thomas and Samoht Acim... I'm asked who is this Samoht.... a new collaborator ? In the line of MirrorrorriM ;o))
And this part: "Fabry-Pérot etalon to assure the absolute alignment of the tailpiece to the neck, and to verify the overall symmetry to nearly unmeasureable precision" LOL too. I'm laughlin a lot and you laugh too but you know I'm right ... somewhere! No hard feelings and even with pleasure !
Thanks Mica

The first thing that came to my mind was the late Graham Chapman as The Colonel, saying "This is getting entirely too silly. End the sketch." :-)

Priceless.

I've just noticed that PierreYves bass has a slightly less streamlined bird design of the tailpiece on his bass. What was the reason for the difference in design?

Pierre's bass.

in comparison , The other twin bass

Congrats Pierre-Yves!

Jazzy: I think it's the difference between the Classic taper and the Comfort taper, the bird on the comfort taper is a bit wider and looks a bit "sleeker" than those on the classic taper basses.

Apart from the Dragons Breath that was made for Stanley Clarke, this is the nicest alembic i've seen.

Congratulations again PierreYves on this magnificent bass and all the best with your band. Hopefully I will be able to get to one of your gigs.
