$75 B-29 with heart or single salamander inlay
$110 B-29 with double salamander or Saturn inlay

Next group should be available in about a month, and it will include many Coco Colo, some with inlays.

Mica:

In honor of our pair of pet Australian Water Dragons (Norbert & Puff), dibs on the double salamander quilt maple and amboyna (whatever that is).

Thanks,

Bill, the guitar & lizard one

EXTRA CREDIT: The origin of the name"Puff" for a pet dragon is pretty obvious, but does anyone know why our boy dragon is named "Norbert"? Hint: you have a better chance of getting this one if you have kids.

Dibs on THE purpleheart/dark walnut (In other words, I want the darker or first pick of the two - I'm really picky tonight!).

Bill: got yours set aside. Do you want to pick it up next time you're here or would you like me to ship it?

Tom (echo): yours is set aside also. Probably better to email your phone number and we'll call you for credit card details.

Tom (nigel): The one on the upper right is slightly darker. The one on the upper left has a little bit of flame in the Purpleheart. Just tell me which one you prefer. Shall I bill your account and use the same shipping address?

Hey Mica, I e-mailed you and left it to your judgement and taste. You have them there, so just box me up which you think I will like best, and I will. Send it when you have time. Another box feeding frenzy!

Mica -

If it's not too late, I'll trade you THIS flame maple box for the one I reserved in the last batch. I like the (what appears to be) mahogany a little better than the walnut on the box I reserved last month.

Since the original box hasn't been sent to me yet, can I do this? Or am I, as always, causing trouble? ;) (I'm perfectly OK with my original box if swapping creates an issue).

Mmmmmmm...I see the birth of a box-department coming up at Alembic. Makes sense ...every apprentice at the Alembic "factory" will start at the Box-department and graduates to the guitar department (to master in the bass department ...hehehehehe ...just kidding)

Paul the bad one

BTW: I can imagine some new opportunities to work on as walking sticks or poolsticks. There have been a tradition in old days to make those in fancy (tropical) hardwoods too! Or fancy boxes one can use to put writing tools in to put on a desk (fountain pens like Montblanc, Montegrappa, Dupont, Omas just ASK to be put in such boxes)

Tom (Nigel):

Harry Potter is correct, and an extra two points for identifying the species!!!! There's not a lot to do in Maine in the winter, huh, buddy?

The boxes are quite nice. The box I ordered from the last batch converged at my home on the same day as my Skylark. Two packages from Alembic!! Whoopee!!

BTW - there seems to be an abundance of Toms in the club - almost as many as the Pauls and Bobs. =)

I'm thinking a Coco Bolo box would be a nice accessory to the bass I just ordered. One must coordinate when one accessorizes. ( he said as he threw back his flowing platinum hair)

Can you please reserve one of the burl redwood for me, actually for my wife ?

I can give you a call next week with a CC number if that's OK.

Dibs on the buckeye burl box! If and when cash flow improves, this would be my choice for a top wood (with walnut running a close second). I'll call in Monday with a card #.

Mica and Valentino,

The box arrived today. It's just as you described. It's beautiful!

Also, the chamois works great! My Persuader's finish buffed right up into it's high gloss. Can't wait to get it home and give the Skylark a good once over!

Thanks again,

Glad you're all loving the little boxes - they really are quite nice.

Court, I've got your Saturn set aside - it does look even nicer than the photos, you can feel some of the open Walnut grain, but I just realized that the lighting really exaggerates it.

Whats left:
2 Vermilion
1 Flame Maple with Walnut base from last set (not the one above)
Wenge
Tulipwood
Fruitwood with Heart
Fruitwood with Salamander

Flax
I had the same idea, thought it would be cool offer a box made from the reminants of the top wood as an 'optional accessory'. So the box would match the instrument.
Hold the LEDs tho.

Oh yeah, and Kris slipped in yesterday and brought me 5 Buckeye Burl boxes too.

He said he's considering making custom boxes from top scraps of instruments in production, but he's not ready to provide that service yet.

Oooops MIca ....and I thought it was always made of scraps of instruments in production.
Although ...it could be a nice option when buying an instrument: "Include box made of scraps of your bass XXX$"
Cool!!

Well, they are made of scraps from the instruments, just not specific ones. I've gotten a bunch of requests to take the scrap from a person's instrument and have a box top made from it. Right now, I can't offer that, but maybe I will convice Kris to do it someday.

BTW - nice to speak with you today Paul!

I put your boxes aside earlier today, Gary.
By the way, I believe the zebrawood box is also still left along with the tulipwood and 4 buckeyes.

Coco bolo top boxes are harder for Kris to make & we don't know what we are going to charge for them yet.

Anyone who has boxes on order and is wondering how to arrange payment can call us at Alembic or e-mail me or Mica with details.

Mike,

I'd have bought a Wolverine box, but they don't make boxes out of worthless rats. I do, however, think they utilize them extensively in laboratories so they can figure out why the people in Michigan just went so wrong ... you know, that phrase heard way too often in Michigan - "Hey You! Out of the Gene Pool!"

When OSU was beating Michigan (again) in the late '60's by about 50 points, the Buckeyes were lined up for another score. They score, and the Bucks go for two. When asked why he went for two when his team was up by 50 or so points, Woody Hayes replied, "because they wouldn't let me go for three."

GO BUCKS!
