Hi John; welcome to the group. That's a very nice looking bass! One of our European members should be able to give you an idea about the price.

Hiya John, I´ve seen that one advertised at Rikkers. I´ve got one of these Spoiler / Original Body basses and love the shape and the sound. I think his price is a bit high, maybe he would be open for suggestions? Regular bodied spoilers tend to sell for about 1100,- but I think 1500,- wouldn´t be unreasonable.

Tot ziens, Jogi

Hi Jogi,
welcome to the Alembic board.
I am happy to see that you joined.
BTW the Vintage Show was again real good.
I also play two Alembics, a Spyder4 and a Spyder8.

Many greetings, also to Jörn.

thanks...I agree, the price is a bit high.
But it's very hard to find a alembic in holland.
Maybe someone knows a nice one that's for sale, for a good price?!
I know Edwin van Huik, but he is selling them for an even higher price and in worst shape.

Well...it's late here in europe...I just could not resist and had to check this forum ;-)

leas let me know if there's someone out there who can help me find a bass for a better price...meanwile I will try to reason wit Rikkers...who know's !!!!!!

a second try to upload my slapper bass....

Good night....slapper

Hallo John,

You're right that the price is a bit high, maybe. Contacting Ferdinand (Rikkers) isn't a bad idea, he's a really nice guy. I plan to pay him a visit too, soon. For me it's easy, only 20 minutes by bike. I can imagine 4 hours of driving will be a bit too much for you, though. Maybe you can take a plane from Aken to Eelde ;-)

Joram.

ps. Good night to you, too.

John,

I'm not interested in a Rikkers bass (well, I would be if someone would give me 2200 euro's). I just like the guy, and I haven't been there for quite a while.

Haai Jonnieboy,

Two things I like about this Spoiler as opposed to a regular one, are the peghead and the fact that it has space between the front pickup and the neck, so that you can pick the g-string more easily.

Inderdaad best duur. Waarom niet gewoon een oproepje 'Spoiler gevraagd' op marktplaats.nl?

Groeten,

Cor.

Hi there,
I've played this Spoiler once when I visited mister Rikkers and it's indeed a fine bass. I've even considered buying it as a second bass for my other Spoiler. It has a very nice piece of facing wood and it plays very well. The only thing I could find what wasn't that nice is the laquer; it's doesn't 'shine' so nice. I haven't inspected the bass very well so I don't know if anything else is wrong with it, but it sure is a nice bass!!
If I were in your shoes I would try to do someting about the price and go for it.

Good luck.
(Nice Slapper bass BTW. Are they still making these basses?? I haven't from these basses for a while...)

There is a spoiler on marktplaats, 5 string. Also a Series I and Wilfred's Elan is on gitaarnet, or gitaarmarkt but have a look at ebay. There is a real fine, nice, beautiful 5 string EVH signature. If you like 5 strings, this is a wonderful bass. I was the previous owner and I sold it because I prefer 4 string basses. Here's a link. If you like I can mail you some extra pictures which I still have. It has signature electronics. Another plus, you can trust the current owner.

Hallo John, welkom bij de club!

Because this isn't the right forum I only say this about my Elan: (click)
http://muziek.2dehands.nl/markt/muz_instr/gitaren-bas/7152065.html?start=15

For more info you can always PM me off course, also via the Basgitaarforum...

The Spoiler at Rikkers Gitaarbouw has been for sale a LONG time, and it just isn't a great deal when you take the price into consideration. The aesthetic appeal is another thing, but I'd better not comment on that, as it is a very personal. Good luck with your 'quest'!

Wilfred

Hee lui,

Only 1 hour and 15 minutes have passed since my last post in this forum and already 3 postings since.

Doesn't anybody on this forum have to WORK during the day?

Cor,

You are so right, we should work instead of visiting this forum. But don't think we spend all day on this forum, we also need some time for coffee breaks. So these two together makes about 8 hours.

Have a nice weekend, it's only four days from now.
I have to quit because I'm going home. Finally, I need some rest.

thanks for your reactions.
I thought about buying this bass at rikker's for a long time now.
But I've desided not to do so.

Don't shoot me, but I've ordered a new Jaydee series III with a deep red transparant laquer finish.
Seperate string angors (as the GA24).

I pay for this bass 2135 euro's that's a liitle more than the Alembic but she's new.
I asked John Diggins to sign my bass when ready underneath the laquer on the backside....this gives it just that little bit extra ;-)

Again thanks for your reactions and I hope I can still be member of this site...

Hi John, you won't have to be afraid, there's a really positive attitude towards JayDee basses around here. You will find that pictures of non-Alembics are almost as welcome as pictures of Alembics (just wanted you to know before we start yelling for them). Maybe the best place to post them is in the Misc. section though...
