I've had a couple of deliveries from Kris, but not a moment to post any pictures until now. Here's the current offering of B-29 boxes: $40 each Walnut bases with the following tops: W10: Flame Maple W11: Narra
W12: Buckeye Burl
W13: Buckeye Burl
W14: Buckeye Burl
W15: Purpleheart Specialty boxes
T1: Myrtle box with Purpleheart top
T2: Myrtle box with Flame Redwood top
T3: Walnut box with Coco Bolo top
T4: Mahogany box with Macassar Ebony top T5: Mahogany box with Pink Ivory top $175 10th Anniversary
T6: Mahogany box with Macassar Ebony top Kris reports he'll be making another delivery soon complete with more Coco Bolo tops. They proved to be much more difficult to make and finish than he anticipated. T5 is the 10th Anniversary box for his B-29 box design. He's making a limited number of these for the first time in Pink Ivory with an Ebony accent, each singed under the lid noting the 10th anniversary. There may be one or two more available. $40 each Classic Mahogany box with the following tops: M11: Bocate
M12: Purpleheart M13: Wengé M14: Zebrawood M3: Flame Maple M8: Flame Walnut
M15: Quilted Maple M16: Flame Walnut
M17: Bird's-eye Maple M18: Flame Walnut M19: Flame Maple
M20: Purpleheart M21: Bocate M22: Purpleheart M23: Zebrawood M24: Wengé M25: Purpleheart M26: Burl Redwood
M27: Buckeye Burl
M28: Burl Maple
M29: Burl Walnut All the B-29 boxes are about 5.5 inches long and 3 inches wide. With the lid on, they are just shy of 2 inches tall. As is the Alembic Club tradition, reservations posted on this thread are respected first (known as "dibs"). Email Valentino or me after you call dibs with contact and shipping information. We'll call you for credit card details so you won't need to email that sensitive information. I know many were interested in the Coco Bolo tops, but I've only got T3 offer this time. T4 and T6 are on hold for Eiji, who gets first choice on the Macassar Ebony ones. Eiji made his choice, so the hold is lifted (Message edited by mica on February 14, 2005) |

Mica- You were going to save me a blue marbley-looking buckeye from the next batch. Looks like the only one left is W12, but I can't see it too well through the photo glare. If you think it matches what I was looking for, then please put it aside for me. Thanks! -Bob |

Sorry for the oversight - that is the last Buckeye, and it isn't the bluest one from the last batch, though it's still quite blue. I bought all the Buckeye ones Kris had, and I asked him to make more in the next run. I'll keep W12 on hold for you top decide. We've had Koa ones before, Steve. I have to take what I can get - but Chip has been saving scraps specifically for box tops, so I'm sure you'll see some nice Koa ones eventually. W11 in Narra is close in color, but of course is no substiute. |

Mica- I like the ones that look like marble. If you think it fits the bill, then I'll take it. I just can't really tell with the photo glare. How does one pay for these things? -Bob |

I think all the Buckeye Burl ones pretty much look like marble. Since the glare only obscures a small portion, I think this one may just not be to your liking. Can you refer me to a specific picture of one that you do like? Payment is usually by credit card. Once contact information is emailed to me, I call for credit card details when we are ready to ship. Many customers already have details on file with us from a previous order and ask us to use that information. |

Well, it was W2 from the last batch that got me going on the blue buckeye. I love the top on Dave's SS bass from the current FTC thread as well. In this set, I would have preferred W13 to W14. As far as the part that is obscured, it seems to be a yellower section. It almost looks like W12 doesn't have as many tight imperfections like the others, which I think might make it look more like stone (a good thing). I will just take it and not worry about it. Worst case, I'll put you on the lookout for another if this one isn't exactly what I was looking for. Do you still have my cell number for last week to make contact, or should I email you with that and address info? By the way, it's cool how you grayed that text out... -Bob |
