Talk about not doing your research. I have also seen this type of bass with the Schecter name brand on it trying to pass it off as a US made Schecter. Good thing there are some good watchdogs here. |

Most amusing. Looks most Indonesian made. And it looks like somebody called a buddy up on the phone and said they had an Alembic Elan, but the person didn't actually see one. I'm willing to let it slide for the fact is the world is filled with stupid people. However, if they are trying to fool the public with this mockery of craftsmanship and material, someone should make their civic duty to smite this individual with great force. I wonder if somebody sent them a picture of a real Elan...

I sent them a picture of a real Elan. They sent a very nice email that said they would pull the auction pending further investigation. They seem like nice people. Hope they didn't lose too much in aquiring this bass. Buyer beware! |

This particular scam, a cheap bass that looks nothing like an Alembic, with an Alembic Elan decal on the headstock, is a recurring issue. There have been a number of previous posts about people selling these basses, usually through pawn shops, and a number have shown up on Ebay. If I recall correctly, I believe these are originating in Texas. And if I also recall correctly, Mica has been pursuing this particular issue for quite some time. |
