I've noticed scalloped, brass nuts on some of the early Alembic basses. Can anyone tell me what the idea is behind it?

thanks

I have one on both of my Alembic Modified Guild Starfires of which I still own one of. As far as I perceive it is is just an aesthetic issue.

I think that an adjustable string nut adds much flexibility for your setup preferences instead.

My Tiger replica has a scalloped nut. Completely ornamental. No functional advantage or disadvantage.
