Hi Mica Well I just went and ordered that beautiful brown bass from Bass Northwest and it's winging it's way as we speak. I wonder if I could point you to my question on the "Dreaming for now" topic as I think you are probably in the best position to answer. I can't wait for the bass to arrive and (after a short break) returning to the Alembic fold. |

Hey Nick, congratulations. I bought my BB from BNW last December. What a great instrument. I do my share of slapping and don't find the p/u selector switch to be any problem. The sound is gonna knock you for a loop. I had some modifications done on mine. Great job by all at Alembic. If your bass is the one currently shown on BNW, she's a beauty. stoney |

Hi stoney Thanks for your response. The bass is the one that was last on the website it's been removed now. I have had great dealings with BNW in the past both Evan and Chad can be proud of the service they provide. It's cheaper for me to buy in the US and personally import than to buy here and BNW take the pain out of it for me. I can't wait to get my mitts on her. It's good to hear from someone who is having such a good time with an instrument and just reinforces that I made a good choice. Some years ago I had a Stanley Deluxe Signature and in a mad moment sold it to have (a totally unsatisfactory) custom built. I've missed that bass so much. I hope this one will be worthy replacement. It will also be great to return to a company with such great customer service. By the way what mods did you have done to your baby ? Nick |

Hey Nick, I added a master volume control and a bass boost/cut switch that effects the neck p/u only. Also put in fat boy pickups. I had a SC Series 1 earlier on (1981 model) and found the individual volume controls to be too clumsy for me (or I was too clumsy for them). Now I feel like I really have total control. Play her well and play her LOUD! Stoney |

Hi stoney That's interesting as all my other basses have the vol/pan solution. I'll have to see how I get on with the two volume controls. Latest is the bass will be delivered to my hot eager hands on Monday. Lucky I'm away this weekend doing other things or I'd be pacing the room waiting !! Speak to you when she arrives. Nick |

Hey Nick, enjoy your weekend. I'm sure you'll be dreaming. If you can't adjust to the 2v nobs, the most economic solution is to buy a volume pedle. They make stereo ones for keyboards if you choose to run in stereo. The mods on my bass were, however, suprisingly not that expensive. Let me know how you like her. Stoney |
