I have a gorgeous 5 string Alembic Europa from 1989 or 1990 (can't remember). It's in great condition. I make almost all my living playing classical upright. The bass has been in the closet for most of its life. I'm in need of another bass bow and have decided to downgrade on my electric bass. What would be a fair price for this? |

I think you should provide photos, serial number and types of wood what was used to create your bass. Allowing the club members to visually inspect your bass will assist in suggesting a "fair price". Good Luck!! Do you perform with a symphony? If so, where? I performed a number of years in the Williamsport Symphony until I had to undergo surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff on my right shoulder which was my bowing arm. During my recuperation process we got a new conductor and from what the musicians told me, the conductor was a "nutball" so I never returned. |

I just dropped the bass off for a cleaning and prep for sale. I should have it back by the end of the week. I'll post photos, serial number and specs then. Charles, that sucks with your arm. Sorry to hear that. It's scary with what we do and you never know when it will happen to you. Yes, I play in orchestras: principal bass with Sarasota Opera, Naples Philharmonic, as well as other various gigs on the west coast of Florida. I also have a bass and cello duo, NONA ( nonamusic.com). We compose and arrange all of our rep. -- that's where my passion truly is. |

Gil- Depending upon the features and condition, you could be anywhere between $2K and $4K, and probably around the middle. Almost certainly not below that, and possibly even over $4K. Charles is right about seeing a picture to zero in on a fair number. Things like the top wood, LEDs, custom neck specs or custom electronics can move the value significantly. If you're looking for a quick sale at the low end, I might be interested, but that's probably not going to be your best deal. -bob |

Hey Gil, My shoulder is healed and "I'm back in the saddle again" I just never returned to the symphony, but I'm still playing my Double Bass. I perform with it on my own gigs and other gigs that require both basses. I will check out nonamusic.com...are you on facebook? |

Thanks Bob and Charles for the advice. I got the bass back and created a new thread with photos. This happened before, I'm sure all Alembic owners can relate to -- the bass came back from my tech guy, I played the bass for a few moments, which somehow became a few hours, and changed my mind about selling it. This time I really need the money so I'll still consider selling, however first I need to find out it's market value and desirability. Charles, yes I am on Facebook. |

Gil, I had a chance to check out "Anhinga" & "Mosie Caravan". They are really enjoyable songs! You really shine on Mosie!! I can understand why Nona is getting a lot of gigs. That's a really unique sound (plus it's my two favorite acoustic instruments!!)and I'm a fan now! Chalie. |

Charles, if you look on YouTube for "duo NONA", you will find both a bootleg of Mosie's Caravan as well as a slide show of NONA with Anhinga as the soundtrack. |
