The Detectives called me and said I could pick up my Alembic and my Genz-Benz box any time, I picked up my Precision today, 5 scumbags are in jail, one was a convicted felon with a gun.

All of my basses have been recovered

Maybe in this case, David, but I suspect that the bad guys have quite the substantial lead overall. They're up about 8-0 on me in my lifetime, though fortunately no Alembics and nothing recent. Congrats on getting your gear back!

I am glad to read of the recovery of your instruments, and pleased to read that hopefully the individuals that stepped over the line will face their moments of life changing results .

After the bad experience of having your gear stolen (including a precious Alembic) it must feel pretty good having it recovered. Unfortunately that doesn't happen often like Bob said, so thank you for sharing the good news.

This is what I did to recover my Basses, On April 30th my house robbed, they took my Genz-Benz 2-10 bass cab, Hofner beatle bass, my Fender Jazz Bass , my Precision and my Alembic Epic, the next morning I gathered all my serial numbers with photos of all my gear and went to work, I pulled up all the phone numbers and e-mail addresses of all the Music stores in the Metro, I made Phone calls and sent emails with serial numbers and Photos. by 5 o clock a small music store called me and said he had bought two of my basses (the Hofner and the Jazz bass) so off to the music store I went, I had the Police meet there and when we went in and sure enough there were my two basses. the owner told me he didn't want my stolen basses in his shop gave them back to me along the Thumb print of the guy that sold them, he said now we are both victims, I left with my basses. driving home I notice two pawn shop so I stopped in to check and see if they had seen my light blue Precision and the said YES earlier that day but he didn't buy it, BUT he had some real good film of the guy trying to sell it, so with all that information I called the detective working my case passes it on, the detective told me thanks to proactive stance I was making his job too easy , this morning he found my Precision in a pawn shop and told me now he knew who the guys were and he would find them, but at 3 o clock the guys at the Guitar Center called me and ask if I had an Alembic stolen from me and I said Yes, They called the Police, and they arrested 5 guys, and all of Basses and speaker box have all been recovered!!!!!!!
long story short, if you get ripped off, don't set around feeling sorry for your self, get off your ass and go to work!!!!
the police told me if it had not been for all my leg work they would still be out there

PS; when my Series 1 got stolen back in 1978 that's how I got it back also

David I think that you should change your name to Sherlock!
I am so glad those scum sucking sons of motherless goats were nabbed.
I hope that the judicial system now deals with them appropriately

So glad you got all your gear back David! Did you know any of the thieves or was your house just a random hit?

I do believe that besides the legal punishment and ramifications that ultimately the universe will supply a cause and effect reaction in the lives of individuals that design their own demise in such a way .

David -
Congrats on the successful sleuthing! Wouldn't be the same at the Texas Alembic Gatherings without your basses.

When my MK5 DeLuxe was stolen, I did all of the same and still haven't seen it. I was robbed in 2008. To this day I miss that bass...it was my voice. Is it wrong to wish calamity, if not death on the person(s) who stole it? I doubt what they got out of it was anywhere near what I got out of it.
