I think a Wiki would be absolutely ideal for all the FAQ type information. Once it was up, club members would be able to tend it - so it would:
a. reduce the workload on the club administrators;
b. creating a far more amenable encyclopedia of Alembic knowledge; and
c. be more comprehensive than the small number of admin.s could hope to achieve under their own steam.

It also looks like the kind of thing that might appeal to Ron philosophically. Mica, has any thought been given to this?

From Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page

"A wiki enables documents to be written collectively (co-authoring) in a simple markup language using a web browser."

Wikipedia is probably he best known wiki - it is already the largest encyclopedia in the world. There are many other publicly available wikis. The code is open source.

We've been using a wiki (swiki to be exact) to help with internal documentation. Like this very Club, we used it ourselves for a good while before we were ready to bring it to the public side.

So, I agree it's a great idea and it will be something we implement in the near future. Glad we will have your support!

Hmm...Smalltalk. Now there's something I haven't heard about for 15 years or so.

Would it be feasible to implement Alembiki in Mediawiki to take advantage of the de facto standard created by Wikipedia?

The single swiki that I checked out didn't seem nearly as slick as Wickipedia (especially the change logging).

I've used MediaWiki myself. I found it very easy to set up and I agree with David, it's both slick and intuitive...
