Make sure you have a good/ new battery. When does the 'plop' sound occur? Make sure to get to the stop at each end. Was the bass stored for a length of time or the filter pot not used in a while? If you need to order the pot, send me an email and I will help you with the details. This tends to solve lots of problems. What do you mean when you say that the filter pot hangs down to the circuit board? Is the filter securely fastened to the body?
