I just received my 5-string Mark King purchased via ebay (Yes it is the one that had the flaw on the tip of the heart Omega cut). The high bidder didn't pay and the second highest bidder passed. The MK was offered to me at my price and I Jumped. I have had a brief chance to play it today on my Gallien Kruger 700 RB Mark II Biamp (2-tens, 1-15). Although not yet through my 70s Sun Colliseum (2-18 CVs).....It is Christmas in July for me. The bass is awesome and goes well with my Epic 6. Below is what the seller had to say in the ebay listing: Pics to come, but now I have to work! (The seller had this bass custom orderd, he said, and is the original owner. He was great to work with and sold the bass to do something special for his young daughter.) "The is an excellent (neck through) one piece bass. Along with the standard Alembic fair, this custom build features a narrow neck for faster licks, a Heart Omega body style, and Phat Boy pickups (an upgrade for the standard). The body is Vermilion with a sandwiched layer of Purple Heart. The top is a beautiful piece of bookmatched (AAAAA) competition quality five (a) rated Quilted Maple on the body and the head stock with a satin finish for faster fret work. Instrument is in excellent working and playing condition and sounds great. It also has an ebony fretboard and a host of Alembic standard features listed below: It has (1) flaw. Due to a music stand accident it has a blemish on the Heart Omega cut away. It does not affect the playability of the instrument at all and is barely noticable on stage. " | ||

Oh yeah! I was going to call the MK "The Brokenheart." After playing the MK briefly, the name is "Heartbreaker." | ||

Congrats!!! If you are interested, I believe it to be the case that Alembic has repaired Omega tips before. | ||

I am quite interested and will be looking to speak with Mica about that, perhaps soon. The fellow I bought the bass from said he'd spokenwith Mica about this repair and it is surely doable. Right now, I can't see myself giving it up for even a day or two..... | ||
