My Dad was an Alembic freak before he passed away and he bought this particular Alembic years ago as a replacement for his "baby" that was stolen fron an airport in Cali. I'm just wondering if anyone has any information on this bass and also roughly how much could I possibly get for it if it's in fair condition. ANY help or information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Hi Treje; if Val or Mica see this post they will look up the build info when they get a chance. This is a very nice Series I built in 1978. The bass has been modified in that the pickup selector appears to have been moved from the lower horn to just above the neck pickup volume knob. Series basses that are this old often require an electronics upgrade due to the fact that there is a lot more RF interference in the air now then there was back when this bass was constructed. The upgrade is not inexpensive and is a factor that buyers consider. Also you did not mention if you have the power supply, five-pin cable, and case for this instrument. These also make a big difference in price. It has been my observation that prices on used Alembics have been increasing recently. There are others in this forum that do a much better job that I in keeping up with market prices of used instruments; but my rough suggestion for a starting point for this bass if it has the power supply, cable and case, and considering it's condition (which is hard to tell from this single picture) is maybe $2,400 or $2,500. But that's just a rough guess; others may have better estimates. The unusual placement of the pickup selector may be a factor. Also more pictures will be helpful. If you decide to sell this bass and want to list it here, we have a For Sale section in the Swap Shop section of our forum.
