Hello! I have some questions for you all: what would be the actual price of the Elan 4 strings? What are the controls on this bass? I guess it's one of the "entry level" Alembics, 'cause it doesn't have sustain block or Purpleheart neck laminates, but I've found a couple for a good price and I wanted to know what's the deal with them ;-)I guess that the Elan was a little more expensive than the Essence and the Exploiter?
Thanx a lot!

The Exploiter was never a model - just the name of an optional body shape for any model. Most of the Exploiters are either Distillates or Spoilers.

Elans were very popular in Italy and many were imported there, so I'm not surprised to learn you are seeing some used ones. We sold many special Walnut Burl Elans there, some of the most beautiful ones we ever made.

In terms of price, Elans will be $350 more than a similary equipped Rogue to make a new one.

Elan electronics are usually: volume, pan, filter, Q switch, front jack. Some had optional bass and treble cut and boost switches and were called "Elan Plus" -- this later became the Europa model (with a side-mounted jack).

I'm working on adding the "discontinued" models to the website in the next redesign. So now I've got no on-line information on this model for you.
