I can't remember the exact date, but it must have been the early 1980's. I remember playing at NAMM for Alembic around that time, and I was all excited that they updated the chassis and used the cast logo on it. I also remember being bummed that there were no red knobs any longer! There was a short period when the F1X came out where it was a silkscreened only face, but that was very short lived.

If the front looks like the one above, these were always all black. The red knobs on the original F-2B were actually discontinued before we started using them, but we bought a huge pile of them when we found out the manufacturer wasn't making them anymore.

The cast logos had to come out after 1987, since it was a design element that I added and that's when I started actually working here full time, but I really don't recall exactly when.

In the early 1980s the original Moduline cabinet went from blue/black to all black. The first F-1X preamps with the silkscreened logo has red-capped versions of the current collet knobs.

So, you guys are thinking this one is probably early 1980s? FedEx is scheduled to delivery it Thursday so I'll have more info and pictures to post. Would the serial number date it?
