Hi, Mica! Would you, please, tell me about the pickups in this guitar? I assume that's a hum-cancelling dummy pickup in the middle, with two single-coils. How do these compare, in tone and response, with your HGRs? Thanks!

You're right about the pickups in the Featured Custom - these are 2 single coils with a center dummy humcanceller. We call it a dummy pickup because it doesn't actually pick anything up.

Compared to our other pickups (regardless of shape, the rest are stacked humcancelling pickups) the single coils sound, well, better. I suppose it's a matter of opinion, but the single coils have a more open or "fuller" sound to my ears.

Any of the systems we offer provide nice clean and clear tones.

By the way, the HG and HGR differ only in the mounting shape - the R has Rounded corners and 4 mounting screws for a rigid mount.

Ah! As Spock would say, "Fascinating, Captain!" I'd assumed the difference'd be as it is in the passive pickup world, with the single-coils sounding thinner than the humbuckers! Thanks!
