i know he lives in new orleans.... does anyone know if his alembic collection is ok? with katrina and all, i hope him and his basses are in a safe place right now. |

I exchanged emails with him about a week ago. He lost pretty much all of his Alembics except for 3 of them. I know he saved the graphite one - not sure what the other ones were. He expected that it would take about a year to get their house back together. I believe he and his family have temporarily moved outside the New Orleans area. Everyone is safe...that's the important thing! |

WHAT!!!!! im totally shocked. man if i had known, i would have gladly allowed those alembics to have a foster home while he was sorting out his stuff. man that just plain sucks.... is any of his alembic gear slavageable? i would gladly help out in any way. its good to know he's alive and well. dela217, if you need any help, let me know! |

I think these types of things happen very quickly...your first instinct is to get your family the heck out. He mentioned that the Alembics that were flooded began to "delaminate" (I am not sure if that is a word!). I would assume anything touching that water would be completely ruined due to the toxicity of the water. |
