I stumbled across this site today because tomorrow, for the first time in 15 years I am un-retiring my 1982 (I think) Spoiler and bringing it down to a band practice. I typed in the word Alembic in my computer and it brought me here.

I am ashamed that it has been so long, but am nevertheless excited to show off this beautiful instrument to my band mates. It may be off-the-rack, but it still sounds and plays better than ever.

All this because I read the John Entwistle tribute in the new Bass Player Magazine and it got me thinking about why I wanted to buy an Alembic in the first place. That tone. It was all I could afford, but I am glad I held onto it all these years.

I may have strayed, but like the prodigal son, I have returned and can't wait for tomorrow night.

Anyway, I figured this would be the place to express such sentiments...

Welcome to the Club Steven, I too had retired my Alembic for 10 years (1976 series 1),when I found this club I dug my Alembic out and started to play it again, Now I have retired my other basses and I have bought another Alembic (Epic 4) I love them both.

Hey Steven,

Welcome aboard. I know it must be good to have the quality of an Alembic back in your hands. I'm very new to this as I have just received my first Alembic (5-string Mark King) 2 months ago...but I'm definitely hooked. I have also retired a few other basses since receiving this one.
