Hi, I'm currently considering a used Rogue, but have a query regarding the body shape / contouring as I won't be able to play before buying. Due to nerve problems caused by problematic cervical discs I can't play a Jazz bass shape as the upper body shape & contouring cause me dreadful pain in my right arm. The upper rear bout of the Rogue seems to me to be Jazz Bass-esque. Is anyone able to confirm how close it is? Is the upper bout as tall as that on a Jazz? Thanks in advance. |

Hi Bill, I've uploaded a couple pics of my Rogue sitting atop of my Jazz. I lined them up at the 12th fret, so you can get a sense of the dimensions. Hope it helps. Rogue vs Jazz Rogue vs Jazz 2 Joe |

Joe- That's a cool comparison to look at. I know Mica is super busy and doesn't necessarily have one of 'everything' in stock, but I've often thought it would be incredibly useful to put all of the various body shapes side-by-side for comparison sake. It's amazing how much bigger (or smaller) some body types are next to others. |

That is a cool comparison! I don't have a picture of them together, but my EVH has a bigger body than my Standard Point Series 1! |

Hi Joe, that's terrific and far more than I expected; many thanks. Kind of answers some questions and asks more though! Looks like it may sit in a better position but is it worth the risk? Hmmm. Tough call! |

Hi Bill, I'm happy to answer any questions you (or anyone else) may have about ergonomics between the Fender and the Rogue. The Rogue does hang differently than the Fender style instruments. If you're used to the fender reach, the Rogue gets close, but still hangs a bit away from the body. Enough to throw off muscle memory. In terms of position against the body, it's waaaaaay more sleek, and out of the way. Joe |

Hi Joe, it's difficult to really get across my issue but it has to do with the shape and placement of the upper curves and forearm contour (incidentally, I have the same problem with Status basses; P Basses nag, but nothing like as badly). Because of my neck & shoulder problems I can't "float" my right arm and have to rest it against the upper bout. On a Jazz it seems that the forward position and height of the highest point, combined with that severe forearm contour, is just a terrible mix for my nerve pain. A P Bass upper bout high point sits further back so doesn't affect me as badly. My Rickenbackers, which are low at the point the Jazz is high and only rise right at the back of the bass, are fine. Historically I didn't have any problem with my big-bodied Alembic Triple O either. Whether the bass itself sits forward or back doesn't seem to be an issue; my Rics sit further out than a Fender. I think the body being more out of the way sounds positive. I seem to be ok where I can rest my entire arm (like with my T.O.; sadly weight was the issue there) or conversely where the upper bout is relatively small and doesn't get in the way. |
