Finally landed a Series I medium scale and I'm now wondering which direction to go...an F2B and the sale of my F1X or purchase of a second F1X. Your thoughts and experiences would be appreciated. | ||

2 F1-Xs. Having a DI, effect loop, and crossover for each pickup are indispensable. I would however like to have an F2B just to have one  . | ||

If you've got the rack space, I agree. I like the sound of the F1-X better. It sounds clearer to me, although both are great. I use an F2-B because of rack space, along with a Grace Felix, so I have all the features covered, but two F1-X's is definitely the most flexible way to go. | ||

You've got a couple of options (as far as I know). 1)Buy the F2B and DS-5R (or mini) and go through each channel of the F2B... OR just buy another F1X along with the DSR5 (if you don't have one) and Blamo!! Stereo!! For my taste I use 2 F1X's, & the mini DS. You can check it out on "Chalie's Revised Rig".. I'd like to purchase the mini hook up that Stanley ordered because that's just an awesome build...so tiny & lightweight, but powerful in that you can put them in a leather shoulder bag and carry em'!!!! Like you I had an F1-x and waited for ages for an F2-B to appear but it didn't before another F1-x did so I got the F1-x and those work great. But they add quite a bit of weight to a rig which is 6U's. But they do sound great and the DI outs are extremely useful. | ||

At some time in your life's musical adventure as a Bass Player you will asked for a DI out and with an FI-X that is provided. I agree with Jazzyvee's statement regarding the quality of the sound from the DI out of an FI-X. You can go with the F2-B if you provide an additional piece of gear with a DI. I have various racks built up that I have configured with various combinations of F1-X, F2-B, SF-2 and IN-2 . In every rack kit a provision of a DI out is provided. Two FI-X units work well together and can "float the boat"___ quite effectively, In one of my " 4 space Signal process Control Rack 's " I have a Furman PL-8 rack mount surge protector and light unit on top , next ; TWO F1-X units and at the bottom a DS-5R power supply. I have another rack with other stuff like IN-2 /SF-2/ F-2B . Rack Gear is so much fun . Wolf | ||

I have two F-1X. One is in a rack with a power amp for mono, a second is in its own single rack and I combine the two for stereo. I find this set up lighter, less bulky, and easier to move. | ||

moongerm, Do you use the high output on one F-1X for one pup and the low output on the other F-1X for the other pup? (then set the crossover points about the same on each unit?) | ||

if anyone can tell me how to connect two F1-X with ONE effects pedal (Boss ME50B for example) to have the same effect on the two PU, I'm interested... If I want octaver on both PU, how to do with 2 F1-X ? I decided not to use 2 F-1 X because of this impossibility, so I only uses one F1-X mono. Is it really worth to use one preamp set for each PU or is it an unnecessary headache ? (Message edited by pierreyves on December 27, 2015) | ||

Thanks Pierre-Yves! I almost forgot about those tracks, that was a fun show. You can try daisy chaining the effects loops together. In one return , then out then into the other return of the 2nd f1x then back out. Peace and Blessings -Brian | ||

Elwood, using the full range output on each f1x for each pickup. Will sometimes use the high and full range on the bridge pickup if I am using a guitar amp this way I can dial out the lows so I don't blow it .... | ||

Makes good sense,thanks Pierre-Yves, have you tried putting the octaver in an aux send on a little mixer (like this one)? You could dial in different amounts for each pickup. Matching the impedance to your effect might be an issue.It could be a fun experiment | ||

Cool Brian, I've never tried that. I also use a Lexicon MX unit(MX400), I love it just for the reverb, the other time based FX are pretty nice too. | ||

Not a problem Pierre. Yes it should work just fine. The boost however I would just use on the bridge pickup before the regular preamp input for solos, but that's just me. Using it in the loop should be fine too. Elwood and Pierre thanks for the lexicon feedback guys. Best, Brian | ||
