Hey guys, I just ordered this used epic 4 http://cgi.ebay.com/Alembic-Epic-4-String-Bass-Guitar_W0QQitemZ7381111263QQcategoryZ4713QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I really don't know what wood the top wood is. It says in the description that it's zebrawood, but it looks more like bubinga or ovankol to me. Mica I was curious about getting another backplate to the tuning peg because one is missing, would I have to buy a whole peg? Would it even be worth messing with to replace it? Well thanks everyone I'm really pumped to recieve it.

Sean, congrats on the Epic and welcome to the club. I'm no wood expert but it looks very much like my Epic 5's Bubinga top wood. Have fun with it.

Good morning Sean, congratulations. I agree it doesn't look like zebrawood but sure is nice. The description also says neck through. As you probably know, that's not the case. It's a set neck. As for the tuning machine cover, mine is missing one also and Alembic told me that the whole thing would have to be replaced. Just call them and let them know which one it is. I've never bothered. It's purely cosmetic and I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

If you guys end up ordering maching heads for cosmetic reasons, be sure that it comes with or without the Alembic "A" on it, whatever the case may be.. My Epic 4 has the A and my Epic 5 is plain. Mica said sometimes they used plain ones if they were temporarily out of the A ones just to keep production going.
