My 1981 Series I produces "significant" noise and I am considering having the factory do the "upgrade" to bring my 1981 electronics up to current standards. Has anyone had this $750 change made to their older Series I (or Series II) bass? I would be interested to know your experience and whether the upgrade had a significant efect on the "noise" of your bass. Thanks! |

I had 74-84 upgraded. Unfortunately I didn't have the pleasure of hearing it in it's original state because a previous owner had ripped out most of the electronics. I can say that when I got it back from Alembic it was BY FAR the quietest (wrt electronics buzzes and hums)bass I had ever owned. Unfortunately I no longer own that bass. Peace, James |

I'm eager to hear what the outcome of this is as well. I want to have my 77 Series I upgraded to Series II electronics in addtion to having the noise reduction upgrade. |

I've had two Series II basses upgraded, and I'm extremely happy with the results. If you're having problems with buzzing due to external interference, the upgrade is definitely the way to go. - nate.
