Any one know how the balance of the distalate body shape compares to some of the other styles(series I, epic, S. Clarke, MK, etc.) I think I want it to be a medium scale. Also how is the size of it compared to others? Thanks guys for any info. | ||

The Distillate body shape has a at least 2 variations with the upper horn being the variant; if you check the Showcase section on this site, you can see the 2 examples. My Distillate (short horn) used to be medium scale and the balance was fine; I think it balances better than a Stanley Clarke, fairly similar to a series I . or MK(standard) not as good as an Epic, Orion, Excel, Rogue or Essence. The longer horn version of the distillate has a bit better balance. Valentino | ||

The Distillate was originally designed as a medium scale 4-string bass. In this configuration, it will balance at about 2:00. The later longer horn version was to keep a long scale with similar balance. I agree with Valentino the Distillate balances better than an SC - it's all about the upper strap holder placement. The Distillate is a little larger than the Small Standard body on a Stanley Clarke bass. It isn't as wide as the Standard Point body shape. If you like a bass that balances upwards to 1:00, you'll need to look at the shapes we offer with long upper horns: Essence, Rogue, Europa, Elan. These shapes are all excellent balance with even 6 or more strings and longer than long scales. |
