I had a 76 Series I guitar that had similiar cracks. I sent it to Alembic and they refinished it and "patched" the two cracks. When they were done you would have never known they were there to begin with. Sean |

I too had a cracked bass that was repaired by Alembic. The crack started under the rear battery cover and went to the core and up to where your arm would rest on the top of the body. This crack was BIG. They repaired it and no one knew it was there but me. The crack was repaired in 1978 and when I sold the bass 2 years ago, it still looked good. They did a great job on this. If you like the bass, I would not be concerned about the crack back there. I have an Alembic bass that I bought a long time ago with a cracked headstock where it meets the neck. The crack is still there, never been repaired, and I just love the bass. One of these days I will have them fix it, but I am enjoying it too much. |

Nice bass! I like that era of Alembic...no truss rod cover, nice yellow finish. Good stuff.

History requests are handled for free as time allows. The records are kept in real-life files, not in a computer. One two two weeks is typical for getting the research completed. If you have an urgent need to learn about an instrument, you can call for an on-demand lookup of the file for a flat $25 fee. |

Here's what's in the file for 729: top: Myrtle back: Myrtle core: Cherry neck: Maple and Purpleheart fingerboard: Ebony inlays: Mother of Pearl peghead veneers: Padauk and Zebrawood The last recorded owner didn't mention the crack to us when he registered. I've added this new information in the instrument file. Someday these records will all be in a database, until then, thanks for your patience. |

perhaps "nudge, nudge, wink, wink" would be a more affectionate way to express your entheueiasm for a dialog with Mica the great (pay no attention to that woman behind the CNC machine!) All things Alembic take time. I wonder how long the folks in Kalamazoo take to respond to inquiries? Help dispell the myth that all Alembicians are high maintainance! Be strong like rock, sway like branch, rumble like earthquake, and patient like humble one at DMV. |

As a fan of Monty Python, I must heartily agree with Dans assessment of polite inquiry. I'm sure all the merry folks at Alembic would concure. Yours very truely, Brigadier Michael Addyman, Mrs. P.S. I just got the A&E compleat boxed set of Monty for Christmas. |

Perhaps you don't quite yet understand the mindset of many of the people who frequent this site and have built up relationships with the Wickershams. This is a public arena and if you put up something that is able to be read, interpreted and reacted to by others then prepare to have reactions to your communication. I did not scold anyone. I put up something for people to think about. The requests, inquiries, and demands that people put on Mica and company are too numerous to mention. Keep in mind that there are also dealers, emails not involved on this site and phone calls that consume a great deal of time. It is a small, family oriented company. Everyone has a significant investment in their equipment. That goes for new customs as well as used instruments. We (speaking for most who post) are to say the least fanatic in our devotion to this company and its creations. So in a small way it does involve us "guys". No one is in competition. Though I think Rami has a good jump on many of us! Life is too short to stress about information. The folks in Santa Rosa are dancing as fast as they can and still produce one of a kind creations that make us really, really happy. In some ways we are the Knights who say "NI"! To Mike Addyman Sr. I just recieved 2 more collectible figures for my growing collection. I now have Arthur, Pasty, The Black Knight and Tim the Enchanter! Go to www.sideshowtoy.com for the rest of the bunch. Have at You! It's only a model. Shhhussshhh! |
