Could someone tell me where the serial number is located on an Epic? There is one in a local music store I am seriously considering buying and I would like to check up on the serial number before I make a desicion, and while it's probably in a really obvious place, I would like to be sure before I go and look at again on Monday, as I am notoriously unobservant and might well end up looking like an idiot trying to find it. |

Both my 98 Epic 5 and 95 Epic 4 have one on the back of the headstock but not in the control cavity. Rich Edit: Sorry, I forgot my manners. Welcome to the club. (Message edited by richbass939 on April 08, 2006) |

Hi Martin; welcome to the board! According to the Alembic serial number guide, on Epics and Orions the serial number is "stamped in the back of the peghead and in the electronics cavity"; however, the "oldest Epics have the serial number in the electronics cavity only". So check the back of the headstock first; and if it's not there, then take the backplate off and look in the control cavity. |

My four string Epic was released 12/20/94. It has the serial number only in the electronics cavity. Rich had me thinking so I double checked the headstock but it's blank. And I too must apologize for my manners, Martin. Welcome to the club. Good luck with the bass. If you decide to get it you won't be disappointed. Sam |
