i am wondering if you can search for a serial number by last name of who ordered the bass? i bought a short scale essence years ago from a store in madison-then sold it (stoopid). i'd like to track it down.

Christian; while I believe it is Alembic's intention to get serial number information into a database, that information is at this point in time in a card file. Thus, it is my guess that a search by owner's name would not be possible. Additionally, I believe it is the case that Alembic respects the privacy of people who register their instruments. Thus, even if such a search were possible, I doubt you would be able to "track down" the current owner of a particular instrument by serial number registration. What you may want to try is posting a message in the Wanted section of the board. Then if the current owner reads your post, that owner if she or he so wishes can then contact you. Another option for "tracking down" an instrument is of course to check the Showcase section from time to time for new posts.
