Hey John My brother in dark Beer and Alembic basses. Should you ever be passing through northern Az, drop me a line and maybe we can sound off at local jam, and have a beer or two. the darks here are generally becks in 24oz er"s or Oakcreek brewery they make an awsome stout. |

Dave I will keep this short and to the point. From what I have read, you seem to be a nice person and if I were to meet you I probably would like you enough. However as a moderator of this forum I see no difference in you than a politician. In my humble opion, I feel you need to be lest biased, and stop running with the click, and I dont meen the track. How's that for balls. I am sorry it had to come to this. sometimes you just got to say what you got to say. |

In Pennsylvania they have what Dave might consider the anti-pizza. It's called "white pizza" and has no sauce! Just lots of mozzerella, lots of fresh chopped garlic, and some chopped broccoli. I thought it was weird the first time I encountered it, but it actually tastes quite good! Me, I NEVER like to hijack a thread (hehehe, and, to be PC, herherher). Modder Dave, Roy completely lost me. Are you a politician? Do you have a Karl Rove lurking behind one of your Alembics? And, since you mention it, I don't like the new FTC format. Unnecessarily complicated IMHO. Might this create a whole new categorie of instruments? "Yea, I own a pre-FTC Series 1!" "Your lucky, dude, mine wasn't built until after the FTC changeover". Pizza for thought? Bill, tgo |

I'm guilty of participating in the very situation I originally was trying to rectify. The topic was "Alembic basses and guitars",under the heading of "Alembic product" The tread title was "bike week". It wasn't "bike week" under the topic "miscellaneous" or some other topic we have found a need to created. Perhaps we should add a new topic titled "off topic" were we can jump to with our hijackings. Wouldn't want to miss out on all the fun these highjackings provide. Dave I have a sugestion. What would you think of having another username for yourself? One you would use when you want to join in on a discussion, and save your moderator title for when you need to use it. That way you can participate in all the highjacking fun without upseting those of us, whom on occasion find conflict in a posting. The reason we have a format is so we can participate in this sea of knowledge in a more direct and timely fashion. I'm done... I'll get off my soapbox now Thank you all for your patience and tolerance. |

Dang. Dave, I haven't witnessed you poorly wording or ill-placing anything since I've been here. Quite the opposite you've too often been the still, quiet voice reeling in some of our more rambunctious moments with that reason thing you do so well. I don't know if you asked for or were approached with the opportunity to become Moder Dave but you did step up and do it well always with respect and gentleness. Oh, I'm sorry, am I getting off the subject? I just thought as long as the wet blanket has been thrown I may as well pop in. |

Dave wrote: I was just making some suggestions. Since the subject of hijacking had been brought up, I thought I would share some things I had been thinking of for a while. Hijacking isn't necessarily a bad thing, and it often can turn out to be a good thing, taking a discussion to a subject that can be helpful to members. For instance, a thread on a particular speaker cab might morph into a discussion on ohms and how that relates to matching power amps and speaker cabs generally. So I don't think I meant to lay down any hard and fast rules or to suggest that any posts made in the past were particularly wrong. Now tell me honestly! Is this not the style of a politician ? |

Adriaan, This has indeed gotten out of hand. So I am going to try and reduce this situation to its lowest denominator. Fact1: It is very easy to get all slap stick all over a post. Makes for a great defense. or as some would say, turn things into a more lighthearted mood. Fact2: We have guidlines to fall back on to keep things civil. They are our constitution. They should not be toyed with or manipulated. Not even from our moderator. Fact3: Dave has taken on a tough job, if he choses to do it in the best interest of all its members. Fact4:Dave jumped right in and acted like he was just another member having a good time. Well posting as moderator does not allow you that privilege. It would be wiser of Dave to lay down the constitution of this forum. Not play politics P.S. Dave this is the last time I address you in the third person. I am a fellow club member and demand to be treated as such. Roy |

Roy said 'Fact4:Dave jumped right in and acted like he was just another member having a good time. Well posting as moderator does not allow you that privilege.' I really can't agree with this statement at any level. dave has been a member of this club alot longer than most of us here and has as much right as the newest member to post on any subject he has an opinion about. Luckily for Dave, we tend to be a pretty self-moderating bunch and I doubt if I'd need the fingers on one hand to count the number of times anyone has gotten so out of hand he's had to 'pull rank'. I've read this thread a number of times and really am struggling to see why Roy is getting so uptight - he hasn't been 'moderated' anywhere that I can see. perhaps he just doesn't like Beer, bikes and Pizza. As for Bike week, for us non motorised cyclists, its Bike threeweeks just now as Europes finest sporting spectacle, the tour de france , enters the mountains. Graeme |

Go Dave go! No problems detected from out here on the left coast... at least for a few more hours ... catching a plane today for NYC ... my 11 year old and I are doing the baseball thing ....Yankee Stadium, Camden Yards, Shea Stadium & Hall of Fame ... all that and a trip to Flaxland too! ... and not even one planned motorcycle ride! When we get to Cooperstown, however, we will be searching for birch beer (I went to the HoF when I was about 11 and I remember getting birch beer in town). So Dave, don't let the upstarts get you down ... keep on doin' what you're doin'. My theory is that if no one hired you and no one pays you, that if the job is done gratis, then do it any which way you want. Up for re-election? You get my vote (Since I own 3 Alembics, do I get 3 votes? If it works like that you better get Rami on your side!!!!) LOL So long as no one hijacks the thread to Cuba, I ain't got no problems. You have my vote(s)too Dave! (X4?) You know what last night the wife and I were laying out by the pool and this bee kept buzzing aroung my wife. She kept swatting at it and swatting at it but the bee kept comeing back. I told her just ignore it and it will go away. So she tried my suggestion, (first time for everything)and guees what? The bee went on its merry way my wife fell asleep in the hammock and I went up strairs and played my newest Alembic. Moral of the story, if your Honey will leave the honey maker alone, you get to spend time with your other honey, Or life's too short to worry about the buzz! |

Besides, I'm more of a single malt scotch or Bombay Saffire guy. (Like I might have 1 drink a month). I believe in healthier ways of altering consciousness (surprise, surprise ... LOL). Bill, tgo |

It's funny how threads turn to topics other than what they were originally intended. I made a post about my experiences during bike week in Laconia, NH and then responded to a question about the venue. All of a sudden this becomes a biker thread. Personally, I love it. I have not owned a bike for years although I do plan to buy one next summer. Last night I watched a program about the history of the Hell's Angels. I have played at many motorcycle related events and have always been treated with the utmost respect regardless of whether Hell's Angels members were involved or not. There is a reason why the greatest bands of all time play motorcycle related rallies such as Laconia, Myrtle Baech, Daytona and Sturgis. In general, bikers are cool people who just want to have a good time. I have been fortunate enough to play them all. Here's to great music, great bikes and great people. |

I remember an evening news micro-interview of Billy Gibbons, when ZZ Top was playing at a biker affair. The bubble-headed bleached blonde (to use Don Henley's phrase) asked Billy, "Why are you so fascinated with these Harleys?" Billy said, "They're big; they're fast; they're loud---I rest my case." |

I live about 80 miles from Daytona and only made it to Bike Week once. And that was accidently. I just happened to be driving through. I've known a lot of people either attending or playing these events and they all have a great time. There's another in Leesburg Florida that I've heard is a good rally. Senior management so far hasn't squawked much about GAS but isn't budging on the motorcycle issue. George, Billy left out one adjective ... ridiculously expensive.
