Hey Gang, How do you send a feed out to the house when using the F-2B? Does that change when playing mono vs stereo? Thanks, M | ||

Your best choice is to feed the direct box from the mono output on the back. You could feed two direct boxes from the L&R outputs and take two channels on the board, but the soundman will just think you're crazy. The F2-B isn't optimal for DI. The only outputs are post gain, so when you turn up on your F2-B, you'll disturb the mix. Also, if you're running at a low volume setting on the F2-B, you'll have reduced signal-to-noise ratio because the output from the preamp will be relatively low. If you have an input gain control on your stage power amp, you want to set your preamp output level relatively high (12:00-2:00) and control your amp's volume with the power amp gain controls. If you are running effects, you'll want to intercept the signal right before the preamp. In most cases, this will be right after the effects unit since there's no effects loop on the F2-B either. In a perfect world, you'd have a line-level effects loop to feed your boxes with optimal signal levels (and the DI as well), then come back into the preamp and have a gain control that controls the final output level but doesn't affect the line-level sends. | ||

Whirlwind makes a great little di called the IMP. They're about $35-40.00 bucks and they work fine. If you want to spend the dough Radial Engineering has some great di's (active and passive)that list at $199.00. It's alot to pay but how much are you willing to spend for great tone? | ||

http://www.countryman.com/html_data_sheets/t85data.html One of the greatest DI boxes on the market is the Countryman.I have used them off and on for several years and they work flawlessly.The sound company the other night had them at a gig I played.You can drive a tank over them and they still work.$150.00 ain't much for for a box that will last a life time. | ||

I have a couple ART Z-Direct passive direct boxes. I use one in my signal path before my reverb unit, which wants a low impedence signal. It seems to work great, I don't notice that it's there. I bought the other for use as a direct out from my signal path to a PA, but I have yet to use if for that purpose. |
