i'm all revved up! i have a short scale excel on order right now-- vermilion top ash body ebony board w/oval markers fatboy in the bridge mxy in the neck- 2 purpleheart neck lams 30.75 scale chambered body both body contours cone peghead standard excel electronics it's my dream bass-based on my experiences with starfires, pbasses, jbasses, stingrays, an essence, a spoiler, an epic and others--taking what i liked from each. one thing that i thought might be cool for a future bass would be master volume, blend, bass, treble and a filter with q switch with a separate switch that would toggle between the bass-treble and the filter w/Q so you could use one or the other. i wonder if it could be done??? |

Sounds like it should float like a butterfly and sting like a, well... maybe John Henry with 2 ten pound hammers! Congrats! Regarding the electronics... It could be done, but why would you want to? With both of them in the same chain, you could either set the B/T controls flat and just use the filter, or roll the filter all the way open and just use the B/T controls. Plus you could combine the two, which would probably be the most useful. This has been done several times before and is called the East-meets-West package. May your custom move rapidly through production... Charles |

yeah-i realized just after posting that it would be the same as the emw--the only advantage would be having 2 separate settings to switch between quickly. i almost did the emw but i figured i'd find a superilter instead and have the ability to use it with my other basses. |

A chambered body short scale Excel? It sounds like quite a custom. It may not have that signature Excel "punch in the gut" sound though. Sounds killer though. |

Isn't that a great pic? I actually own that Bass. I found it brand new hanging on the wall at Steve's Music Store in downtown Montreal last year. I only realized it was the one on the Excel page later. It's a killer fretless. I think I'm the world's biggest Excel nut - and proud of it! Rami |

Chris; no, I'm not an employee, I'm just another member. And no, I'm not the most savvy; there are a lot of guys on this board that know a lot more about stuff than I do; I just tend to post a lot. |
