Hey guys, right now I have an epic 4 and I'm playing through an SWR 350 (old style when they soudned amazing) and an ampeg 6X10HLF. I am considering purchasing an eden D210XST from guitar center (used) for 349.99. I want to it fill out the low end of my sound. I have come to understand through reading and playing with it that it has a ton o f clean low end to the cab. Anyone mix edens and ampegs? Bad idea, good idea? Any thoughts? Thanks! |

Sean: I purchased two eden D210 XST cabs last May. I use them exclusively for gigs here in Scotland. The only thing that I find with them is that the high end lacks just the tiniest bit. The low end off these cabs is amazing! Warm, round, and thunderous! I would think that the mix with an Ampeg cab woud be very good. The one thing to check is that the amplifier you use can produce the low frequencies that the XSTs can produce. In my case all components of my rig are capable of at least producing down to the 30 Hz level. Even the XSTs are in that neighborhood. I think they are an amazing cabinet for what they are! |

Sean, You might also want to ask this question on the Eden boards. I know that some of the folks there use/have used Ampeg cabinets in addition to Eden. Most think very highly of the D210XST as a low end cabinet. Here's the URL |

Hey Keith, Let's call it a High End - super low frequency capable cabinet. The term "Low End" dosen't sound right when describing an Eden cab. As for the highs lacking, it's high frequency response is rated at 14KHz just like all the other Eden cabinets with a tweeter (which is fully adjustable as well). |

The 210XST is a great 'stand alone' 210, and would add a lot to any combination, but I'm a bit confused: You've got a 610HLF Ampeg cab, and you need something more to round out the sound? In what way? If I remember Ampeg's nomenclature corrrectly, isn't this a ported (more lows) 610 with a horn? What are you still needing you don't have? J o e y |

Thanks so much to everyone, its been very helpful and I will for sure go post on the eden boards. Joey-While the cab is a ported 610 it cannot reproduce the sound I want for the lowend of my sound. The cab can produce some of the best highs and mids I've ever heard, but the lowend is still lacking for me. I was trying to decide what to do because the ampeg 410HLF had way to much lowend and not enough mid for me. I played a ton of different cabs and they were either out of my price range or just not right. I came accross the eden by chance and decided to give it a try and I love the sound. I'm taking my rig up there wednesday to try it out and make sure that everything gels. I'm really hopeing this gets the sound I want. Plus if I do purchase the eden then I won't have to lug my 610 to coffeeshops for tiny shows. Once again thanks so much for all the responses! Sean |

Yep, Sean, that's the thing to do. None of our recommendations will tell you squat compared to you plugging up your rig with your bass and deciding how it sounds to you. That's a great deal for an Eden, so hope it works for you! (Message edited by crgaston on September 11, 2006) |

FWIW, I've got two 2 Ohm D-210XST's and they are awesome. Powerful, extended, full, smooth and very portable (you can easily carry one all by yourself)! They sound great with an Eden head (WT-550, in my case), but sound even more massive with separates driving them (F-2B/SF-2/QSC PLX, in my case). There are other threads here on the club that pertain to theses cabs...one recently discusses some apparent incompatibility with other cabs WRT blending-in and/or smooth, uncolored combined response. I'd read those and ck out other Eden user's blogs for more feedback. Personally, I don't think you can go wrong with an D210-XST, especially for a coffee shop gig, but I haven't tried them with anything else. Good Hunting! Cheers, Kevin |

Rami, Yes you are correct about my usage of "low end" in the same sentence as Eden. I have been properly chastised and will try to be much clearer in the future. LOL Keith Eden Navigator user |

Well guys I ended up taking my rig up there today to try it out. The sound blew my mind. It sounds exactly how I wanted it to. I ended up buying it for 300!!!! I can't believe the guy let it go for only 300 even. Th eden tone with my head is unbelievable I like just as much or if not more than my ampeg. Thanks so much for the feedback everyone. I'm going to go play my new rig way to loud. Sean |

To paraphrase an old racing adage . . . "Play it like you stole it!" You did! J o e y PS Don't EVER try a 610 Eden, at least till you're ready to trade the Ampeg! |
