Well with the latest increase it puts me further away from a custom although 10% really is not too bad. Im thankful for the SC Deluxe that I do have and also for the SF2 that I have on the way. My continued support... well of course. - Tom |

I’m glad I ordered my custom when I did. Tom is right though, 10% is not that much compared to lets say what fuel prices have done in the last 2 years. Or how about cable TV, and utilities. |

And you can still get GREAT deal on a used Alembic ... If you look around! in the past I have not really noticed these increases affecting the used market too much. - tom |

10%? Since April 2003 the prices have increased over 30%. I have always dreamed of owning a Dragon Wing, but as an average, working-class guy, there is no way I can afford it now. Thankfully used Alembics are still affordable for the most part. I love the gang at Alembic, they are the nicest people around but the yearly increases are so depressing... Time to play the lottery. Most look for a good deal anyway. Still there is something to be said for having that certain smile knowing it was built for you! I'm afraid I'll be in the used market looking over the goodies there. I can always dream!! NLP p.s. olie thanks for the dbl neck comment. e-tu dbl bass-A. |

Yeah, I lucked out... at least, sorta. I'd been keeping my eye on the monthly special for a while -which savvy club members know to be a rationally mandatory stratedgy. I'd planned to get a replacement for my stolen Elan, and was waiting for the right special. When September rolled along, with the "choose any 2006 Special", I knew it was time to submit my quote. It's an expensive endeavor getting a custom Alembic... but there's never a good/cheap time... but with that Special, that was probably the best time. Part of my reasoning to get it now rather than later was the awareness that it ain't gonna get no cheaper... but I did feel a wave wash over me when Beaver at Bass Central told me the price increase was coming... I just made it! I feel kinda like Indiana Jones slipping under the descending stone slab in "Raiders of the Lost Ark!" I hope the December Special will be something that will let other last minute clubbers get their special creations! For clarification, my initial "sort of" qualification for lucking out was the fact that it was always present in the back of my mind, the fact that they could raise the price at any time. Blah blah blah... I'm saddened for all those whose dreams will be delayed, and I hope everyone who can will be able to get their order in before the increase. Best wishes, gang! |

I'm assuming the increase is on the models only and not on options. Can anyone verify? |

Hi David, aside from the instruments, there will be an increase on a handful of options; one of them will be bookmatch to center, although Susan has not decided yet by how much it will go up. We'll post the info about the options on the club when we have figured out the new pricing. Valentino |

In past years, the increases haven't been perfectly balanced. When Alembic announces a "10% price increase", that's the average rate at which things go up. In fact, I think there may even have been an option or two that decreased in price during one of the past "increases". You can count on your custom costing about 10% more than it would have if ordered last year, and does it really matter if it is 8% or 12%? When you're talking about a price tag of $6-8K, $100 is noise. |
