Wade, my Epic was identified as Bocate also, but we think the wood card was wrong. you can check out my epic in the showcase in the Epic file under "my Epic 4", it may be Bubinga. as far as sound, it sounds good, like an Alembic should. David T (alembic76407) | ||

It sure looks like Bocate to me, Wade (we're still trying to cross reference Charles' bass). Bocate is not a wood that I can identify by sound. I group it with other woods of this nature like Walnut and Bubinga (though Bubinga is slightly brighter sounding). Most of the tone from the Epc is from the set neck construction. The bass should have a focused midrange punch without extreme highs. Of course, you've got the bass, so how does it sound to you? | ||

Mica,it sounds great ,in the terms of how an electric bass should sound. The sustain is great too. I think the top is one of the best looking tops I have seen,if I can say so myself. I was wondering why Bocate isn't used more often? Especially when they can look so good. Thanks for your reply. | ||
