Seems that left handed six strings are a bit rare. I certainly can't locate any. I am a bit picky though. String width is a key factor for me. I prefer string width to be the same as with a four string. I have a very difficult time spanking the funk with anything more narrow as I am an agressive slapper and my current six string (Non Alembic) is very unforgiving. My large hands and fingers certainly dont help matters in regard to narrow string width. I do great with my Epic 4 string, no problems whatsoever. I am considering a shorter scale length, like a Stanley Clarke in a Six String, custom neck width to compensate for string spacing. Any thoughts on string spacing/shorter scale length considerations? |

drz: Why not have a 6-string built with the same spacing as your 4-string ALEMBIC? Lots of people got very used to the spacing on their four-string and wanted it carried over to their fives and sixes. ALEMBIC could easily duplicate the spacing you're used to, and you could pick out the rest of the bass as well. Scale length is an entirely separate subject from string spacing. And a short scale with the big B-string COULD feel awfully floppy. Best Regards, Joey Wilson |

Hi Ron, I know 1 guy here in Belgium who have a Alembic (EVH) 6-string medium scale. I never heard him complaining. However, it have been some time we talked. About spacing: what Joey did is what I did when I ordered Bonnie (see the Showcase department SII basses and guitars). The spacing for her is "X-wide". I don't have huge hands and broad fingers but I simply get so used at the spacing of my MK-signature that time that I asked and obtained a more "alike" spacing. However: it was not the EXACT spacing. They advised me negative on that because it was gonna be EXTREMELY wide. To compare things: in that same department you'll find some nice pics of Brother Brian's (Caesar) five string. Although Brian and I consider ourself as "related" there are som e differences. The string spacing is one of them. Bye Paul |
