hello all,
I just bought this and was wondering what anyone knows about it. I've played Alembic, love them, and thought this was a steal. Anyone verify that?

Dan,
Any time you can get a bass that nice(and all alembics are)you have made out just fine. Your other basses may not be too pleased with you because there is no turning back now. If you are not sure what that means yet, give it a week.
Very nice score, i know you will enjoy.
By the way, welcome to a new home, the support here is great.

I am more curious about this "special edition" that it is. I was very surprised to see this bass go for 800 total with shipping and hardshell case.
Just wondering why this bass was a special edition. I am pretty pumped about getting this bass. I am an intermediate player who is looking to take the next level with an inspiring instrument.

Dan, you've made it to the next level, I have a Epic and love it, I payed $1000 for mine used, and worth every dollar. my series 1 stays home most of the time and my Steinberger is now neglected. be sure to register your bass with Alembic.

I read about one of these before on here. I believe it was a special batch made for Guitar Center or MARS.

There were two different runs of Special Edition Epics made for two different Guitar Center anniversaries.

Is there really anything special about them other than being great basses?
Dan, the new owner.

The only thing I see that's not standard on an Epic are the fretboard inlays, those are extra on that model; I can't tell from the pictures if yours are mother of pearl, mother of plastic or abalone. Also the top wood is most definitely not walnut, as indicated by previous owner, but flame maple, and a nice one at that. Congratulations on your new baby.

The brass truss rod cover and backplate are also not standard on the Epic bass. These were made in a group and sent to the Guitar Center stores as an anniversary model for them. I think these were for the 34th anniversary, but I don't exactly remember. We did two different years of anniversary models for Guitar Center.
