Hey, if the Belgians, Scotts, Salt Lake Citians, and Dallas folks can do it, why can't we?

Bill, how 'bout it?
Bob? Val? Doc?

I don't think the mothership could fit us all, but maybe Guitar Showcase? My band has a rehearsal studio, but it's tight with just the 4 of us.

Let's get some ideas together and get this started!!

We could probably host about 12 comfortably in the showroom.

OK that's not fair, we in the Dallas group feel that we set the bar high with 15 Alembic's brought from home, so if you west coaster have a gathering, you can't count the Alembic's in the showroom
don't make us (the Dallas group)come out there!!!!

wait a second........... that sounds fun

Hey, Dave, We'd love to have you join us...except so far it appears it's just you, me and Mica! That would about tie the Dallas get together INCLUDING the showroom basses!

Rory?
Bill?
Anybody?

I'm game...there's a lot of guys in the bay with Alembics, aside from the above mentioned usual suspects....Paul's in Sacramento, that's not far...Eric in the south Bay, Rod in SF, Yah Yah,...and lots more I forget at the moment.

Hey, Val...I figured you know of A LOT of them...
OK, David, If Val makes it with his, we won't count the showroom basses!

I may regret this, but why not have interested parties e-mail me (see my profile) with a GENERAL availability, and maybe we can figure out how many to plan for, and with that number, where to have it. We'll give it a week for people to find this posting and figure out their schedules.

Oh God!! Did I just volunteer myself to organize something?? Now we're in trouble!!:-)

If we wanted to try a liitle jamming, I don't know if the Alembic Showroom would be all that conducive. One of the drummers I play with has a ranch with a big comfy ranch house room where we play. He might be willing to host. So do we want just a meet, greet, show & tell, or a big jam too? And again, will Alembicized instruments be included? (If so, I know we can beat out Texas - hehehehe)

Olie:

If they don't let you in, I'm boycotting! Have you ever been to the mothership before? If not, it is well worth the 1.5-2 hour drive from Sacto, even if there isn't a get together that works with your schedule. Of course if would be very cool if your trip coincided with a get together. Will you be travelling with an Alembic, or will we have to lobby Susan to lend you one so you can get in the door? LOL

"Our cut," huh?? Well, I'm pretty sure Olie can be bought off with a case of IBC. Once he sees it all set up in a big tub of ice, I think he'll fold like a lawn chair

Of COURSE I want to get instruments together, and Alembised guitars would be cool, too.

Just cuz I'm in Hawaii I was born and raised in Monta Vista/Cupertino, and spent some good years in Los Gatos before I left to come here in 1990. So I would like to be in this chapter if you don't mind.

Plus my credentials are that I ordered my Series II (Mele Aloha) from Dan at Guitar Showcase.

So does any of this have any weight?LOL Pull?LOL

Paul-

You're in Hawaii- that certainly puts you in the Pacific Club. I'd be more than happy to meet you halfway for our get together. Halfway between Hawaii and New Zealand looks to be Samoa, but if we veer slightly to the east, we'd land in Tahiti. =)

Let me know when a convienent time would be.

Ok, bumping this thread to see if any other Bay Area folks are in.

We're still working out where and when, but as far as who, this is what I have so far:
Bill
Valentino
Eric
Harry
Rory
Me
and a possible visit from Olie, depending on when.

Anyone else?
Bob? Kent? We need more Rogues, guys!

I got a big thumbs up from my drummer friend to hold the gathering at his ranch in Canyon. Big and comfortable and in a place where we can make NOISE. We have a P.A., fireplace, and a refrigerator. What more could we possibly need? So now the question is when?

I won't be able to make it until around 3 or 4 - will it still be going on by then?

The next Saturday (the 31st) would be fine for me too, but again, I couldn't get there until around 3 or 4.

That day works for me.

I probably won't be able to take every Alembic I have, since I drive a small sedan; fitting 7 instruments in there is kinda out of the question.

Bill, you truly are a scholar and a gentleman...;)

That's an amazing offer, you are certifiably insane!
It would take you something like 1 &1/2 to 2 hours minimum to make an Oakland to Fairfax roundtrip , and you're offering to do it 2 times in one day? (I do need to get back, obviously) That's incredibly generous of you, thanks for the offer, my friend.

I'd hate to put you through that much trouble. I'm thinking that I might be able to do 5 or 6. Two hard cases and 3 or 4 well-padded gig bags maybe. I'll do a trial 'load' and see how it looks.

Then there's amplification...no way I'm bringing a cab if I bring the basses & guitar but I hope & believe there will be enough to go around basswise & guitarwise.

And Bois de Rose!

lest we forget the eggplant guitar. That was built pretty stealthily.

That does bring the total to 1 non-dalbergia instrument, though.

Hi Brad,

you should hop on plane and join us, little over an hour...:-)

The Bois de Rose guitar will be there; that would be the Madagascar Rosewood Jags was talking about.

It's not an easy one to photograph, that 's why I haven't posted pictures so far.

You 've got to look at it real close to see the grain. Just as the woodseller warned me, it gets very dark real quick. As a matter of fact it darkened even before it got glued on, and sanding it did not restore the color it had earlier.

I suspect that with as many bass players as we're gonna have I'll get to play more if I bring my guitar. ;)

Are you in Alaska now? As for flights, if you're serious, you should look to Oakland Airport. Canyon (where it looks like we'll be meeting) is next to Oakland and 60 miles south of Santa Rosa.

Hey!! I thought this was going to be done via e-mail...I'm checking my inbox and not getting confirmations, and everyone's already getting things planned HERE!!! (so much for keeping it out of the public forum for safety)

Anyway...24th is PERFECT, so let's E_MAIL the location to all the confirmed people, and figure out a time. (I'm thinking afternoon, but we'll see)
