Hi dear Alembics,

what do you think of this bass from the 80s?

She looks very close to an Alembic and sounds really similar ("HiFi") to my MK.

Detail from the engraved plate between the pickups:
"Handmade by"
"W. Kist"
"05"
"Limited Serie"

Wolfgang Kist was a german luthier who worked at Hoyer. No more informations found on google :-(

She was made in February 1980, that's carved on the backside of the headstock.

More details on her, you couldn't guess by viewing the pictures:

- Medium scale (32")
- Passive
- 2 volume- and 2 tone controls
- 2 microswitches (singlecoil/humbucker or out-of-phase, I don't know?)
- 3-way pickup selector
- 5 kg weight

The knobs of the controls are made of metal (enduring shame to Alembic :-)

She's in excellent condition (nearly but not exactly "mint") and not for sale, but I'd like to know what you think of her and what she's worth in your opinion.

Thank you very much for your comments in advance,
Roland

BTW: Sorry, but as I'm a new here, I just hope uploading the 11 pictures will happen. If I started this thread in the wrong category, Admins should *please* feel free to move it to the correct category. But please tell me!
Thanks,
Roland

Very nice Roland. The variety of quality and interesting basses and guitars I've seen since coming into this club is mind boggling. Who would have thought? How about pictures of your Mark King?

Her sound is very clean with endless sustain.
